Can I remove the coil (after I pulsed it and it's glowing evenly from the center to outside) to wick it and then re-insert it into the deck...or that would result in heatspots?

Not sure why you would even want to.
I wouldn't be concerned with hotspots by doing this. But I would be concerned that where your coil attaches ... The grub screws or phillips screws, have deformed the wire & impossible to realign the same way.

What atomizer (and/or coil design) would require you to destabilize a stabilized coil in order to install wicking?
Could it be done without issue, probably...but why risk upsetting a coil you've got working great. I'd say the chances of something going wrong are pretty high. Plus that's just more time consuming than wicking it while it's in the atty.
By removing the coil.. you in essence are installing a totally new coil.. Just a pretempered one, kinda like when we torched all the wire before building, for clearomiser like nautilus and Protank. Just the act of removing the coil will create potential new hot spots or hot legs. Not as bad as fresh wire.
Can it be done, YES. Will it work afterwards, maybe, but not as good as if you had left it be.. I have tried this. Not for rewicking, but to move a coil to a different atty. It works, just not real well and not everytime.
