Hi there,
I am not new to smoking but I am slightly new to vaping. I purchased a Reuleaux rx 75 about a week ago. It is a single battery 75 watt vape with a single coil built in with an atomizer attached to it on the bottom. I have been vaping it just fine for the past week and everything has been great. Anyhow, last night I turned it up to 75 watts and the temp is set at 160C. And after I took a drag I had the most horrible taste enter my mouth. I figured it was just the juice since it was a feshly made house juice from my local store. The taste is that of cardboard paper and metal. The smell is the same as well. So I thought that maybe I burnt the coil. So I replaced the atomizer and coil but I am still getting the same taste. So I cleaned out my tank and put a premium juice in it (slug juice) if you've ever had it. Which I had vaped before and it was great. But this time it also tasted like cardboard paper and metal. It makes me sick when I hit it and I have to put it down for a while. So I'm kind of at a stand still here. I just bought the thing and I really Like it. But I also don't want to keep on using it if all my juices are going to taste like this. I normally run it at 50w at 160C, the coil is running at .21 ohms. Lastly I tried steeping my juices but nothing has changed and it's been 2 days since steeping.

Hi Patrick!

My first question is - what atty/coil? You're trying to use Temperature Control - is your wire Nickel, Titanium, or Stainless Steel? Do you have the correct Temp Sensing mode set for the type of wire?

With TC, I don't find that I have to crank wattage all that high (maybe 20-40W for my temperature - 430-480F) to get a good vape. You're hitting with a LOT of power for a very low temperature. I'm guessing that you're just experiencing some residual from the nasty taste? Go back to your normal settings?

Yes I can actually, it glows like an ember. Am I giving it to much power?

Yes, turn it down until it does not glow anywhere on the wire.

If its one of those atomizers where you just replace the coil, then follow the next to things.

If its nickel (ni200) or titanium just go ahead and replace the Coil. Those two types you don't want to make glow.

If its a stainless steel. I would turn it down give it quick taste. If it taste fine again vape it. If it has a burnt or singed taste to it. you will need to replace the coil.

Hey guys thanks for your help, I went to my local shop yesterday and went ahead and replaced the coil, wick, and atomizer just cause. I also bought a premium juice. And that seemed to fix the problem. I don't know why the spare coil that came with my vape didn't want to work but this new one is hitting great. I went ahead and adjusted the temp to suit the power I was sending to the coil, and now everything seems to be fine. Thanks for your help guys.
