So I have been using TC for a couple of months now and have a love hate relationship with it. I have 2 TC devices, a Sigelei 75 and a Heatvape Invader Mini. I purchased a Sigelei Elite Tank w/ Ni200 coils figuring it would work best on my Sig 75. I have watched tons of videos on how TC works and I have found the perfect vape for me is between 400 and 425 degree. This gives me a warm but not hot vape. The Elite tank works flawlessly on the Invader mini, but it seems I am always having to re-set the resistance on the Sig 75, it will be vaping fine and then I set it down for a minute and very little vapor, re-set the resistance and vapes fine. The other day I was vaping away with the Sig set to 40 watts at 400 degrees and set it down for an hour or so and then picked it up to start vaping and I noticed a slightly burnt taste, thinking it was my imagination, I took another draw and bam.... Burnt coil... You can't un taste that Blehhh. Is anyone else having this problem with the Sig 75 or is this the normal way that the Sig works in TC?

Hate it when that happens.
Now I was not aware there was a mod which you could adjust the wattage in TC mode, thought it was all joules. Interesting. If this is the case, that adjustment might have everything to do with it, lower it no? Otherwise, it does not seem to be working properly, right?

Right, if I set the wattage between 25 and 40 and the TC around 400 and up, it is a decent vape. I am thinking that the problem starts when I put the mod down for a little while and the coil returns to room temp, so every time I don't use it for a while, I have to lock in the resistance again. The coil initially reads at 2.1 and is locked in at that. I just put a new coil in and will see where it goes from here trying to duplicate the burnt coil. Maybe I just had a janky coil:grr:

woah, woah, woah. Did you really mean 2.1ohm? That is way to high for the ni200 coils that come with the elite tank.

Interesting the ohms lock fails.
Good question for someone who has one. I succeed lol
No the ohms lock is not failing. What happens is that when I set the resistance and vape a little, it is just fine, then when I set it down and pick it up again, there is very little vapor if I keep it on the same ohms setting. If I fire it just enough to warm up the coil and then reset the resistance at what it reads then, usually .34 it vapes fine again. I have even tried to leave it locked in at the initial reading and turning up the temp and wattage but still a weak vape unless I lock in the atomizer again while it is slightly warmer. The tank works flawlessly on my Heatvape Invader mini, so I know it is not a problem with the tank.

I am still trying to figure this out. I did figure if I just slightly warm the coil it brings the ohms up over .3 and if I lock it in at the higher ohms, then it works fine again. I will see how long it works this way now

@gofishtx, I got a Sigelei 75 TC about a week ago, so I have not had much experience with its quirks yet but it has been pretty flawless for me with a titanium dual coil build in a Mutation X. The temperature calibration is off with Ti, but I'm used to that from using Ti with a couple of DNA40 mods.

IMO you're causing yourself grief by locking the resistance with anything other than a room temperature coil. The resistance you lock in at tells the mod that is the resistance at 70 F. Lock it in at say 110 F and you're out of calibration by 40 deg. That means if you set say 400 deg, it will really be higher than that.

What I do is lock in cold, making sure to hit the down button just before the power button so the mod doesn't fire by mistake and heat things up. I leave that alone then and set up my power and temp. I have not had any problem doing it this way.

If you do get burnt hits and want to check the temperature calibration, or you just want to do it once to see if the mod is OK, you can do a dry cotton singe test but you'll need a RDA or an RDA deck for your tank if there is one. Put fresh wick in the coil, leave it dry, set the temperature to say 370 F and fire it for a few seconds. Slide the wick over so you can see what was inside the coil and check for singing. Increase the temp by 10 and repeat. Your cotton should not singe until it gets to around 410. If you find it singes at say 390 then that is actually ~410.

If the calibration is good and you're still having issues there must IMO be something else going on.

Now as I said I don't have much experience with this mod yet so there could be quirks I haven't discovered. Hope it works out for you.
