I've recently been experiencing shortness of breath and chest tightness. Was wondering if anyone could tell me if e-cigs are the problem.

Hi and welcome to ECF :)

No one on a forum can answer that one for sure. If you are at all worried about it, seeing a doctor is the safest thing to do.

In the meantime you could stop vaping for a bit or reduce the amount you vape and see what happens.

If you smoked it could just be stopping that caused it. Something in your juice could be causing it due to an allergy or irritation. It could go away or it could get worse depending on the cause. A bit more info from you as asked for in the posts above would help us help you.

Ultimately though, if the symptoms are serious enough to bother you I would either see a doctor, stop vaping or both until I had a plan on how to move forward.

I would see a doctor just to make sure. A lot of people say it might be VG while other mention PG. I've had it happen after about a year and a half into vaping so I couldn't really attribute to stopping smoking. For the last few weeks I haven't really been inhaling and it seems to have gone away. Why don't you try not inhaling or stopping for a bit and see if that works. In any case, I wish you lots of luck. Ginger

1 of 2 things are going on.

1. Your lungs may be detoxifying from the toxins in cigarettes.

2. You may need to switch to a lower VG juice.

If it doesn't clear up in a week or two move to a lower VG juice.

What you are experiencing is a common symptom when quitting smoking. Also, not saying its the same for everyone, but when I first started vaping I got some of that same feeling for a short while. It went away fairly quickly and I continued vaping.

I've stopped smoking cigarettes years ago. I did change liquid though. What ingredients should I avoid?

If you stop Vaping does it go away?

I've been using the same wattage for 4 years. I did change liquid, but I've been using it for a month. Any ingredients you would suggest to avoid? What liquid brand do you use?

Thank You

What equipment are you using?
If you're using variable voltage/wattage, what settings are you using?
What resistance are you using?
What flavor is the new liquid?
What is the PG/VG level of the new liquid?
What is the strength of the new liquid?

You haven't provided enough information for much help to be provided. If your symptoms are concerning, you should cut back or stop vaping at least temporarily and contact a physician.

I, personally, cannot tolerate a VG level above 50%. I get a thick phlegm that coats my throat and I feel short of breath. As long as I stick with at least 50% PG I'm fine. Certain flavors can also make me feel short of breath, as I have a "reactive airway" according to my doctor. I don't have asthma, but my allergies can manifest as coughing fits that result in wheezing.

How we react to vaping depends on too many factors and results in a very individualized experience. You can get better feedback here on the forum if you provide more information, but even if you don't want to do that, please, call you doctor if you are concerned at the development of symptoms associated with breathing ... it's too important to take for granted.

I am an unflavored user and avoid most symptoms. If you can't do that, how about very low flavoring?

Thank you for the questions I need answered. I'll be doing some research.
