I would tend to agree, just wasn't sure, and my idea requires me to be positive.
I can't remember the supplier (CRS Sufferer) but a while back I saw them for sale by the 100 count and in the description it said "Silicon Cartomizer Protective caps" if my old brain decides to cooperate and I remember where I saw it I will post the link but as others have indicated Silicone is your best bet.
