I smoked everything, cigarettes, pipe, cigars. Mostly pipes for the last several years. The first pack of cigarettes I bought cost .25 cents. I won't say how old I was at the time (you probably wouldn't believe me) but I will say Huck Finn had nothing over me.

I've had a long love affair with nicotine, over 40yrs. It would have been over 50 but I quit for about 8yrs. At least half of the 8yrs. I used smokeless tobacco.

I didn't really want to stop but my boys, who were in elementary school, asked me to stop smoking. I didn't want to be a bad influence on them so I did. Then, when they got 16 and 17, they started smoking. I said to myself, if they can do it so can I. Like I said, I never wanted to quit. I loved Nicotine!

I really had missed my pipes. The filling, lighting, tamping ritual. The feel of the pipe in my hand. Just sitting and smoking and thinking my thoughts. But as the years passed I knew I should quit. Times had changed and I had become a social outcast. My doctor was always asking if I was still smoking. First we tried the gum. Not working. Then the patch. Nope! Chantix, I still have a medicine cabinet full of that. This takes place over a number of years. Then the last time I saw my doctor, as usual, he asks if I'm still smoking. He said I should try e-cigarettes. Said a lot of people had success quitting smoking using them.

Well, to make a long story even longer, I went out and found an e-cig. Lets give it a try. Boy does that taste NASTY!!! Nothing like real tobacco. I had to suck on it so hard my ears wanted to pop. But I didn't want to give up just yet. Made my mind up that when the last of my tobacco was gone I would try to quit. That happened on Dec. 31. New Years Day I had no tobacco, but I did have an e-cig. Made it till that Thursday when I saw a friend just vaping away. Thing looked nothing like what I had. He was getting lots of vapor and really looked like he was enjoying it. He told me there were two vape shops in the area with lots of different flavors. I had no idea! Told me about his mod and tank and that I would be happy if I got something like his. Well, I did get something like his and I am SO HAPPY. I haven't had tobacco since Jan. 1 but I still have my lady Nicotine.

I guess the reason that I've written this is if there is just one person that reads this that has tried to give up tobacco and nothing worked, or who is smoking and wonders about vaping, do yourself a favor. Take my doctors advice and start vaping. You know you need to stop smoking. Vaping is the least painful way I know. I don't think you'll be sorry. Just get good equipment. Ask all the questions you want, people here are ready, willing, and able to answer them.

And to all you guys and gals that do vape---------vape on!:vapor:

Welcome to the ECF Family! Great story, buuut What did you end up getting??

I am vaping on an iPV3 and Mutation X v2, or the Kanger Subtank :)

I have the airflow closed way down on the MutX and the flavor is awesome, but I am currently waiting on some good flavor chasers in the mail!

I have the DOVPO E-LVT 30 w and Nautilus mini tank. I know this won't be the last of what I get but I'm new.

Hello Nicot and welcome to ECF. A lot of friendly people on the forum with loads of knowledge to share. I've been vaping for about a year and half. Started with an eGo kit and duel used up until about two weeks ago. I have picked up a couple box mods and different tanks. I have both a Nautilus and a Nautilus Mini and love them both. I've yet to fully share my story. Have a good day and keep on vaping.

I too love nicotine and believe it helps me in a number of ways. But, vaping is not without its side-effects... As many others have said, you may find yourself spending hundreds of dollars on equipment, browsing ECF for hours, and trying every flavor and vendor on the planet! I guess that's not so bad and really just the price of being in love. Beside, there's still a ritual and I certainly appreciate that still, as I imagine you will as well.
