Confused about modding

Hey, I'm currently new to e-cig modding and currently want to build one to get off regular cigarettes. I'm not addicted but need to have one everyonce in awhile and thought that this would be better then regular cigarettes. So my understnding is I need three parts to make an e-cig. Those being an atomizer, battery thingy, and a connected for them. I understand the basic design in everything but the atomizer. I don't understand whats in it. I saw one of the tutorials in the modder section and all it showed basically was a coil with two wires. I don't understand like what to put around the coil and what to filter that etc. Anyone who could help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You would be much better off buying your atomizers as most people do.

Sounds like you're confused about what you want. Figure out what you want first; you want a 3 part e-cig or do you want a 2 part that uses cartos? By calling it a 'thingy' I can tell you haven't done any homework; maybe you don't want a 'thingy' to start with. Read up, use the forum for more information then decide. I'm sure it'll become easier once you learn what a 'thingy' is

just get yourself an eGo 900mAh and higher, get some cartos or CE2s, problem solved

If you're intent on building one take a look at the box mod kits at madvapes... you'll get a basic rundown of parts...
to that you'd add an atomizer or 2..
the actual batteries and a charger for them...
e-juice...
