I just picked up a Vamo V3. I was reading the instruction booklet that was included.

On page 2, point 8 of the functions list; it says "Battery Monitoring shuts the unit off once battery has reached end of the charge"!

But on page 6, "Charging" section it says "The Vamo V3 can't use an ego battery charger to charge. You should take out the 18350 battery or 18650 battery to charge."

Just below that on the same page it says, "When the indicator light is red the device is charging. When the light turns green charging is complete."

To complicate things the store employee was explicit that I must only use a separate charger & there is no built-in charger in the Vamo...

That & I haven't seen any reference to being able to charge the batteries in the Vamo itself.

Can anyone make some sense out of this for me, please & thank you.

I think it's saying when the battery is nearing the end of it's capacity it will shut the unit off. Meaning when the battery is at or around 3.2V it will no longer fire to protect it from over-discharge. They are using the word charge to say capacity and has nothing to do with the act of recharging a battery.

But on page 6, "Charging" section it says "The Vamo V3 can't use an ego battery charger to charge. You should take out the 18350 battery or 18650 battery to charge."

Just below that on the same page it says, "When the indicator light is red the device is charging. When the light turns green charging is complete.

This is telling you how 99% of Li-on chargers work. Red means charging, green means charged. These instructions might not make sense if you get the Vamo unit alone, but would make perfect sense if you bought a kit with a charger.

Always fun deciphering through Chinese-english instructions! Just charge the batteries separate in a good smart charger and you will be fine. Answered above in red

I think what they are getting at is.... with all the chargers with 510 thread.... DONT. the vamo is not a pass-through charger.
Get a legit charger.

Where do people come up with this?? i own a few ego batts and chargers + a new vamo v3.. never.... ever did i come up with. thread the vamo onto the 510 threaded ego charger.

Where do people get these brain farts? please get a li-ion charger. we dont need any more bad press.

Yes, you need a separate charger for the batteries used in the Vamo. The Nitecore, XTar, Pila and Efest chargers are all good choices. These are "intelligent" chargers that recognize the battery chemistry installed in the bay and use the right charging method and voltage for safe charging.

They range in price between $20 and $35.

Go ahead and get some good quality batteries and use the ones you have as backups. Most of the batteries sold with Vamo kits are unprotected ICR cells. Those will work Ok in the Vamo because of the protection circuitry built into the device. However, if that circuitry fails the batteries can get put under conditions that cause thermal runaway.

Unprotected IMR cells from AW and hybrid cells from Panasonic (CGR/CH) have lower capacities but safer battery chemistry. The ICR's can cause a fire or explode in a runaway. The IMR's and hybrids die much more gracefully.

What they mean is that when the battery is "discharged", it will show "LO" and shut down. The Vamo will operate until the battery reaches approximately 3.3 or 3.2 Volts, then show "LO" on the screen and shut down. Not while charging, but when you are vaping or using the device.

hehe...I remade it ;)

It won't explode...it just won't charge...period

I highly recommend you get a Nitecore i2 charger they are VERY inexpensive and work very very well...unless you want high dollar chargers and they have them too

here is the forums "most recommended" site to get batteries and stuff
http://www.rtdvapor.com/online-store/battery-chargers/nitecore-intellicharger-i2-detail

or you can order from fasttech and wait a while ;)

I am currently rocking these

I bought 2, charge one, use one, swap em out at the end of the day (Li Ion will have more charge cycles if you DON'T drain them all the way to low voltage shutoff ;) )
