Auto: abbreviation for automatic.
Automatic: (Auto) A battery that when taking a draw activates the heating element. No button is used to activate the heating element. An internal sensor activates automatically when air is allowed to follow through the battery.

Base Liquid: This is the liquid to which nicotine and flavouring are added create e-juice. The two most common base liquids are known as VG (vegetable glycerine) and PG (propylene glycol).
Batt: Abbreviation for Battery.
Battery: (Batt) The battery provides power to the atomizer/cartomizer or preferred topper when the user draws on the mouthpiece. It is in general lithium-ion, ranges in many sizes. Some of the smaller “mini” batts, have an LED on the end to simulate the heat glow from what an analog cigarette creates when a draw or puff is taken.

Box Mod: A square-shaped battery modification for lithium-ion batteries.
Bridge: A small U or V shaped covering on top of the heating coil of some atomizers. It is usually a metal covered by an absorbent material designed to wick e-liquid from a cartridge filler to the heating element.

Burnt: Generally what people refer to when they have taken a drag on an empty cartridge.

Cart: Abbreviation for Cartridge.
Carto: Abbreviation for Cartomizer.
Carto Tank: A tank that goes over a a punched/preholed carto. This lets you vape longer while it wicks the carto.
Cartomizer: (Carto) The cartomizer combines a heating element and a juice delivery system into a single unit. It is disposable and not considered to be refillable, although many users manage to do so. Cartomizers can come in a single coil, dual coil, or even a triple coil configuration. Single coils use one coil and our standard in cartomizers. Dual coils have two coils and our commonly used in tanks. Having more than one coil has the ability to produce twice as much vapor or the same amount twice as fast from the standard.
Cartomizer Tank: A cartomizer tank is a tube to hold e-liquid. The cartomizer sits in the middle of the tube and will have a hole punched in the bottom so that the e-liquid can feed itself into the cartomizer.
Cartridge: (Cart) The cartridge is typically a mouth piece that is made of plastic and houses the filler material with your e-liquid.

Catch Cup: (Drip Well) - A small cup located around the threading of a high end PV that catches any leakage from an atomizer. The catch cup is used most notably on Feeders. catch cup is part of a classic atomizer like a 510 or 901.
CE-2: A CE-2 type device generally has the heating element towards the top of the device and wicks that go down into the juice. These wicks are designed to direct the juice from the bottom of the device to the top where the heating element is.
Charger: A battery charger. This is used to recharge your e-cig battery once it has been depleted.
Cleaning Cycle: This is an extended activation cycle of the battery (usually 20-40 sec.) designed to clean the excess liquid off the atomizer.

Clearomizer: (Clearo) a clearomizer is the transparent version of a cartomizer. Designed to allow users to see how much e-liquid they have left. Many have ml graduations for the capacity of e-liquid left. Made of very easily breakable plastic in order to remain transparent. A wick or wicks, are generally used for the juice delivery to the coil. There are top coil and bottom coil configurations. Many versions are constantly evolving in order to improve the performance the user desires.
Condom Fill Method: A method of filling a cartomizer by filling a condom cap and forcing the bottom threaded end of a cartomizer into it, thus filling the carto.
Connection Type: Many different connection types are used to connect the atty/carto to the device or battery. The most common are 510, 901, 808, 801. In my humble opinion, the 510 connection is the most popular type.
Coil: A coil is generally a piece of nichrome or kanthal wire that has been wrapped around a kind of wick. Current flows through the coil; the coil gets hot, and vaporizes your e-liquid.
Cut / Cutting: The process of diluting e-liquid to achieve the desired nicotine level.
Cut-Off: Cut-Off or stopping point. Automatic shutdown is a feature which happens if you take to long a draw from an e-cigarette. This shutdown feature generally happens after a 5-10 second draw. This feature aids in preventing the atomizer/cartomizer from overheating. Following a cut-off some e-cigarettes will flash the LED indicating a cut-off is in effect from a long draw from the user.

DCT: Dual Coil Tank. A tank with a dual coil cartomizer inserted in the middle with pre-slots punched into the bottom to so that e-liquid can feed itself into the cartomizer. Simply a long carto tank. Not all carto tanks are DCT
De-wick: Removing the wick from an atomizer.
Debridge: Removing the bridge (and wick) from an atomizer-common practice for people who direct drip.
Dewick: the act of removing the wick from an atomizer.
Dipping: The act of dipping an atomizer into e-liquid.
Direct Dripping: The act of dropping E-Liquid directly on the atomizer coil.
Disposable E-Cig: The disposable e-cigarette usually comes with no charger or way to charge it. It is designed to be used once and to last long enough for you to vape through 1 prefilled cartomizer. It is a 1 piece design. It is said to last up to 24 hours.
DIY: Do It Yourself: Anything that involves doing it yourself. Often involved in mixing e-liquid with its components.
DNA: The DNA is a small variable wattage board built for modders. The board can produce up to 12 watts and can be running in parallel to produce 24 watts.
DOD: abbreviation for Drip On-Demand.
Doubler: A 0% Nicotine, double-strength flavour, intended to be used in 50/50 mixes with nicotine liquid.
Drip: To drip drops of e-liquid into an atomizer.
Drip On-Demand: (DOD) The drip on demand is a an accessory that is used to feed e-liquid into your atomizer by pressing the bottle. Your bottle of e-liquid is placed at the top of the feeder and a spout or tube is branched off for you to insert your drip tip. It’s dripping made easier.
Drip Shield: The drip shield is a round metal or plastic tube that slips over your atomizer. If leaking occurs on your atomizer, the liquid will leak into the drip shield instead of leaking onto your PV. As your atomizer runs out of liquid stored, the liquid in the drip shield will be sucked back into the atomizer to then be vaporized.
Drip Tip: A drip tip is essentially a mouth piece to be used on an atomizer for dripping. The tip has an enlarged opening allowing you to drip e-liquid directly into it. Drip tips are also used on cartomizers, replacing the existing rubber mouth piece that comes with them to provide a more comfortable experience. Drip tips come in many different colors, styles, and materials.
Drip Well: The drip well is typically a bowl shape on a mod where the atomizer female connector sits. The drip well is designed to catch any excess e-liquid that may have leaked from the atomizer.
Dripping: Dripping is the act of allowing e-liquid to manually getting to the heating element by “dripping” e-liquid onto the heating element directly. Feeder: (Juice Fed Device) - A personal vaporizer that contains a filled bottle of e-liquid. These devices feed juice directly into the atomizer or cartomizer by squeezing the bottle, where the liquid is then fed through a tube, into your atty/ carto and ultimately vaped. This was invented to replace dripping without compromising on flavour.
Filler/Filler Material: This is the filling inside a blank cartridge or cartomizer. It is designed to soak in the e-liquid and direct it to the heating element.
Flooding: This occurs when too much e-liquid has flooded an atomizer (atty) or cartomizer (carto) and results in poor vapor and can cause “gurgling”. When this happens it is possible that the eliquid has entered the battery connection. This can cause damage if not cleaned
Fluval: A common filler material used in aquariums; some vapers use it to replace the standard filler found in factory cartridges.
Food and Drug Administration: FDA – An administrative branch of the United States government that oversees rules and regulations pertaining to the safety of food and drug products sold in the USA. There is currently a very controversial lawsuit involving the FDA and the importation and distribution of electronic cigarettes.

Gen: abbreviation for Genesis.
Genesis: A type of rebuild-able tank atomiser for advanced vapers. It uses oxidised stainless steel as a wick instead of the more common glass-fibre wick seen in mass produced atomisers.
Glycerine: A sweet-tasting liquid commonly used in food production; it is often used as a base liquid for cartridges.
Glycerine BP: A british term for Glycerine British Pharmacopoeia a type of base liquid used for e-cigarette cartridges; flavouring and nicotine can be added.
Glycerin USP: USP stands for "U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention"
Goose Neck: The goose neck is a flexible extension for your PV. Goose necks come in assorted colors and sizes.
Gurgling: Usually occurs when too much e-liquid is supplied to a given device resulting in flooding. Another cause is condensation built up in the air passage.
H:
Head: slang term used to encompass all attys, cartos, clearos, etc.
Heating Coil: The thing that gets hot! Generally a piece of nichrome or kanthal that has been wrapped around some kind of wick. Current flows through the coil, the coil gets hot, and vaporizes your e-liquid. You then vape happily.
High Resistance (HR): An atomizer or cartomizer with a higher Ohm rating than the standard equipment. This will allow the user to apply higher voltage to the coil.
HR: abbreviation for High Resistance.
HV Atty: An atty designed for higher voltage vaping, not for use with standard batterys due to low power.
HV Mod: A dual battery or boosted supply mod (modification) to allow higher power vaping.
Hybrid: there are hybrid APV's which are a single PV which has a atomizer as part of the unit and no way to separate the PV and atomizer. I'm pretty sure every hybrid PV is based on a genesis atomizer. There's also a hybrid atomizer

IMR: Lithium Ion Manganese Rechargeable Battery.
J:
Juice: Also referred to as E-Liquid, E-Juice, or Smoke Juice. This is the liquid that is vaporized when using an electronic cigarette.

Kick: 1. The name used to describe the feeling at the back of the throat when an inhalation of vapour reaches that spot.
2. The name of a clever add-on device produced by Evolv Vapor which is used to regulate the heat produced by certain mechanical mods.
Knuckle Head: This is an adjustable drip tip. It can be adjusted to any angle desired.

L:
Leaking: This can happen when too much Juice is added to an atomizer or cartomizer. Juice can leak out of the bottom of the heating element and onto the battery, which in some cases can cause damage to the device (as is the case with Automatic Batteries).
LED: Abbreviation for Light Emitting Diode.
Light Emitting Diode: LED – A diode that converts applied voltage to light. These are commonly used in electronic cigarette devices to indicate that the device is actively being used.
Li-on: An abbreviated term for lithium ion batteries.
Liquid: Also referred to as E-Liquid, E-Juice, Smoke Juice, or Juice. This is the liquid that is vaporized when using an electronic cigarette.
Low Resistance: (LR) An atomizer or cartomizer with a lower Ohm rating than the standard equipment. It generally causes the heating element to get hotter faster and produces vapor more quickly. Lower resistance produces more vapor than an atty or carto that has a standard resistance rating.
LR: Abbreviation for Low Resistance.
LR Atty: A lower resistance atomizer than a standard resistance atomizer usually around 1.5ohms. A standard atomizer is around 2.0ohms.
M:
mAh: The term “mAh” references to Milliamp per Hour.
Manual: A style of electronic cigarette that has a button (mounted usually on the top side of the battery) that when pushed, activates the heating element. The button must be pushed in order to produce vapor from the atomizer/cartomizer. It is considered by some to be less like a traditional cigarette than the automatic electronic cigarette. Many prefer this style due to it being sealed and can not be adversely affected by e-liquid.
Mechanical (Mod): it's a PV with no wires. All the current flows through parts of the device, usually the outer casing, allowing for a very high current flow. In theory they should be able to handle any current demands put on them as opposed to unregulated mods which often have wires or switches that can possibly melt when too much current is applied.
Memory Effect: A process by which NiCad batteries begin performing in properly due to misreported energy levels; the memory effect causes the device to believe that batteries are dead when they are really not. You can reduce the likelihood of the memory effect by regularly discharging fully, and then overcharging, batteries. Li-Ion hos no memory. Some people use Ni-mh which has no memory, but no one used Ni-Cad batteis anymore, and if they do they probably won't be reading this.
Menthol: A substance derived from peppermint which is used in a variety of applications including cigarettes, food of flavoring, and even in medicines. It can be used to flavor e-liquid.
Mesh: The cover of the atomizer bridge; typically made of a metal mesh material, stainless steel mesh for example.
Microcoil/Micro-Coil: A coil for RBA/RDA that is wrapped touching around the wick.
mg: Abbreviation for Milligrams.
mg Strength: A measurement denoting the strength of the nicotine level in an e-liquid; 18mg means that for every 1ml of liquid, 1.8% of it is nicotine. 18-mg is a shorthand for 18 mg/mL or 18g/L or 18 parts per thousand (ppt) or 1.8%
MG/ml: A ratio to describe, in milligrams, the amount of nicotine per millilitre of liquid.
Micro: A designation for a small-sized e-cigarette; usually 50mm - 99mm long.
Mini: A smaller than average sized e-cigarette.
Milliliters: (mL) The amount or portions measured in a given container of eliquid. There is usually 1ml of liquid in a standard cartridge
Milligrams: (MG) The amount or level of nicotine found in e-liquid. Typical levels are 0mg, 6mg, 8mg,12mg,16mg,24mg,30mg,36,mg and 48mg.

Mod: A custom built PV device.
Modder: A person who is a modder, modifys an electronic cigarette to their preference. Often to improve the mod device to be more powerful than a typical e-cig.
Mouthpiece: A mouth piece sits on and is inserted into an atomizer or cartomizer. A drip tip is often referred to as the mouth piece. This is the part where you lips are placed on an electronic cigarette.
Multi-Voltage (MV) Device: A device that has pre-determined voltage settings. Most of these have at least three settings. For example, a low setting could be 3.7V, a medium setting could be 4.5V, a high setting could be 6V. You cannot adjust outside of these settings. This is not a commonly used term in the vaping community, but it needs to be. Examples: The SVR, The EVO, The Ovale F-50.
MV: Abbreviation for Multi-Voltage (device).
N:
Nic: An abbreviation for Nicotine.
Nic-Juice: A slang term to denote an e-liquid with nicotine; it would NOT be used for e-liquid with zero nicotine.
Nichrome: One of the two main types of resistance wire used for the heating coil in an atomizer or cartomizer. The other is Kanthal.
NiMH: Ni-MH stands for Nickel-Metal Hydride. Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries have no Cadmium added. Cadmium is hazardous to the environment. When using Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries, charging should be monitored to avoid overcharging. Nickel Metal Hydride has no memory effect and can be charged or topped off at any time without affecting battery life.
Nicotine: An alkaloid found in tobacco and other plants of the nightshade family.
Nicotine Level: The nicotine level is the amount of nicotine present in a cartridge or bottle of e-liquid. It is usually measured in mg/ml.
Niquid: A generic slang term for e-liquid with nicotine added. Sometimes this liquid has no flavouring, other times it does.
No-Resistance Wire: The heating coils in some Rebuildable Atomizer(RBA) installs require no-resistance wire leads to be attached. They allow for current to get to the heating coil through them, but the portion that is no-resistance will not get hot. The two types that are generally used are silver and nickel.
NRT: An acronym for Nicotine Replacement Therapy.

Ohm: A measure of electrical resistance. A lower number indicates lower resistance and therefore creates faster heating. Usually pertains to atomizer
P:
Pass-through: (PT) A Pass-through can be either a device itself or part of an electronic cigarette or mod. It is the device itself, you can connect your atty or carto to it and then plug it into the USB port of a computer or USB wall adapter. It receives power through either. Pass-through is built into many electronic cigarettes and mods allowing you to use them while they are charging.
PCC: Personal Charging Case. A device that is charged first and then is used to charge you’re electronic cigarette while on the go and away from an electrical outlet. Many PCC provide extra storage room for an additional battery and cartomizer or carts. Most PCC's look like a pack of cigarettes for easy carrying.
PEG: An acronym for Polyethylene Glycol; it is infrequently used as one of the ingredients in the e-liquid.
PEG400: An acronym for Polyethylene Glycol 400; an ingredient sometimes found in e-liquid.
Pen Style: A style of electronic cigarette, known for its resemblance to a ball point pen.
Personal Charging Case: A portable charger that can be taken with a user on the go to charge electronic cigarette batteries when away from a power outlet. Particularly useful when using an e-cig that has less than a 2 hour battery life per charge.
Personal Vaporizor: (Abbreviated as PV) Another name for an Electronic Cigarette. Usually used in reference to the more nontraditional style e-cigs (also known as Mods).

Rebuildable Atomizer: Rebuildable Atomizers vary in design. Some have a fabric wick, while some stay more pure from burning elements and use SS mesh and kanthal wire. Rebuildable atomizers are meant to save on cost and be readily fix-able. Some incorporate a tank for holding e-liquid.
Resistance Wire: What the heating coil is made of. Two types are generally used, Kanthal and Nichrome.

SD: Refers to Screwdriver; which is a fat ecig battery.

Stacking: Stacking is the act of using two batteries in series instead of one battery. You should always use matched battery pairs, and devices that have vent holes, and batteries that have protection built in.

Steeping: The act of letting your e-liquid sit for a length of time. The purpose is to allow the components of the e-liquid to merry or intermingle and mature. Stick Style: Another term used to describe electronic cigarettes that are of or close to the size of a tobacco cigarette.

Tank: A special type of cartridge that holds considerably more liquid than cartridges with filler. Usually used with a cartomizer and sometimes an atomizer. You just fill them up with liquid and vape.
TH: abbreviation for Throat Hit.

Throat Hit
TH) Throat hit is the sensation that is felt in the back of the throat when inhalation is taken from the mouth down the throat. Some factors to the throat hit felt are, the nicotine level used, and or the quality of the e-liquid. Higher levels of nicotine generally give a greater throat hit. Personal vaping habits or techniques are also factors for throat hit.

Topping Off: Adding a few drops of e-liquid onto a cartridge or cartomizer or tank is called topping off.

Triple-Coil Cartomizer: A newer type of cartomizer that employs three coils providing about 1.6ohms of resistance. These babies vape strong, slightly more so than dual-coils, and come in several sizes and may hold anywhere from 1.5ml to 3.5ml of juice. Generally recommended for 6v vaping.

Vapeology A slang term used to note the specific vocabulary and terminology of vaping.
Vaper: A person who vapes. A smoker smokes. A Vaper vapes.
Vaping: The act of using an electronic cigarette. Power is supplied to the heating element which vaporizes the e-liquid and vapor is then taken into the lungs and provides the sensation of smoking along with nicotine if it is present in the e-liquid.
Vapoholic: A term to denote someone who vapes incessantly, the point of compulsion.
Vapor: The water vapor that is produced when the liquid is heated by the atomizer or coil.
Vapor Cigarette: A term used to refer to an electronic cigarette. This term is used commonly due to the water vapor that is exhaled when using an e-cig.
Vapor Production Typically associated with Juices. Indicates how much vapor is produced using an average inhale of an e-cigarette.

Vapor, Throat Hit, Flavor: represent the vaping experience given by a device or an e-liquid.
Vaporer: you are consider a vaporer if you use electronic cigarettes
Vaporizer: The Vaporizer turns a liquid into a gas or vapor. Another term used for electronic cigarette, e-cig, PV, etc.
Variable Voltage: Variable Voltage (VV) allows you to control how many volts your device will produce. With a variable voltage e-cig, you have the ability to dial in the voltage by a click of a button or sequence. A typical voltage range for variable voltage is 3.0volts – 6.0volts and VV device’s can change these volt settings in .01 increments.
Variable Wattage: Variable Wattage (VW) allows you to control how many watts your device will produce. Variable wattage will allow you to set the wattage, no matter what resistance atomizer or cartomizer you use with the device. Variable Power (VP) is also used to describe variable wattage.
VHR/VHV: abbreviation for Very high resistance / very high voltage
Vegetable Glycerol/Vegetable Glycerin: (Abbreviated as VG) – An ingredient found in many brands of E-Juice. This is one of the ingredients used that when heated will produce vapor that can be inhaled. Typically, VG produces more vapor than it’s PG counterpart but provides less flavor and Throat Hit. Some users who are allergic to Propylene Glycol must use 100% VG Juices.
Vent Holes: Vent holes appear on the bottom of electronic cigarettes and mods. These holes allow battery gases to vent in the event of a battery failure.
VG: Vegetable Glycerin, is a water soluble liquid that is also used in food, cosmetics and medicines.
VJ: An acronym for vape juice; this is another term for e-liquid.
Voltage: Volts are supplied to the atty/carto from the battery. Most devices, such as the EGO supply approximately 3.7V. High voltage devices can supply between 5-6 volts. Variable Voltage devices allow you to adjust the output voltage. This varies between devices, but usually somewhere between 3V up to 6V. Multi-voltage devices provide pre-determined voltage setting. For example, a low setting could be 3.7V, a medium setting could be 4.5V, a high setting could be 6V.
VTF: Abbreviation for Vapor, Throat Hit, Flavor
VV/VW: Some advanced personal vaporizers, incorporate both variable voltage and variable wattage features.

Wadding: Another term to describe the filler material inside a cartridge which holds the juice.
Watt(s): Watts is a measurement of power which is the function of the voltage of your electronic cigarette or mod and the resistance of your atomizer or cartomizer. Watts = Voltage (squared) of your device divided by the resistance of your atomizer or cartomizer.
Wick: A wick is an absorbent material that is used in many different styles of atomizers. A type of poly or silica string or number of strings is often used for the wicking. (Wicking) also refers to the act of directing the e-liquid from the container to the heating element.
Wicking: The process by which e-liquid is drawn from the cartridge into the atomizer coil.
