Confused newbie

I am confused about posting banners & promotions. I understand that doing that to promote an affiliate or discount code is against the rules. Why do I see banners and promos all over the forum. I erroneously posted one when I first joined and was chastized and insulted by the replies I got. I understand that I didn't obey the rules which I am now well aware of but the nastiness of the replies caught me off guard. It seems that the members are militant and have a "my way or the highway" attitude. If they don't agree with something, they attack. I am getting out of here for good.

I am not sure about that one as I don't have one of those type banners. but don't leave because of that...there are alot of good places & good people here with alot of great info for you...Welcome Trich..stick around..have fun!!
