Hey all. I'm a bit confused.. :/ While i was choosing an e-cig model, i saw many places on the internet where it is written that one cart is equal to about 15 normal cigarettes... Now when i'm a vaper (lol, i'm loving it!) i see that one cart is equal to about 2 or 3 cigarettes.. I mean with one cart i vape 2 or 3 times only... That's why i'm starting to use dripping... Cuz filling the carts so often starts to nervous me.. :) But how is with this "1 cart ~ 15 cigs"??

The usage of a cart will vary quite a bit from person to person and model to model. It seems as if almost all manufacturers exaggerate how many puffs you will get or how many cigarettes a cart is equivalent to.

I think I get better mileage than most people, and seem to refill quite a bit less than others, unless of course I'm dripping.

I use a KR8 model and the cartomizers for me seem to hold quite a bit of liquid. Your mileage may vary, but you are not alone in your observation by any means.

I'm not sure where they got their information, but 1 cart has never been equal to 15 cigarettes. The amount of nicotine in the cart is less, the time it takes to vape through it is less, it just doesn't add up.

I believe this comparison was first made by Smokingeverywhere as an attempt to justify their insane prices on everything.

I don't even pay any attention to the cartridge/cartomizer vs analog ratio. I go strictly by ml used per day.

However, let's see what I can come up with anyway...

I used to smoke a pack a day.

Now I vape between 1 and 1.5 ml per day. That fills my 901 cartridges 2 to 3 times. (My 901 carts will hold about 0.6ml when empty and about 0.5ml when topping off.) I have no idea how many puffs we're talking about here and have no intention of trying to figure it out.

If I were to translate that into # of cigs, that comes to about 6 - 10 cigs per cartridge.

But in reality, that probably isn't right either... :p

I was a two-pack a day smoker for forty years. In January of this year I switched to e-cigs and have not looked back. I have a few diff. KR808d-1 models and vape strictly Turbo cartomizers (16mg.) and I only go through one a day (and I vape pretty consistently). There have only been a time or two where a carto ran out before I was ready to call it a night so on those ocassions maybe I used 1.5 cartos. It seems it really is an individual thing and varies greatly from one person to the next.

I believe that these claims are not really lying so much as misleading.
And I mean very, very misleading.

I think what they might be doing here is saying that a cartridge has as many milligrams (mg) of nicotine as a pack of cigarettes. So therefore if you ignore the possible fact that we absorb far less nicotine from using electronic cigarettes as compared to cigarettes, you can potentially say that a cartridge could equal a pack of cigarettes. Of course, that is only if you consider that you would have to be taking only like two drags off your electronic cigarette and pretending that you have just smoked a cigarette.

So yeah, if you only take around two drags every time you would normally have a cigarette, it may last as long as a pack. And if you absorbed about the same amount of nicotine from an electronic cigarette as you do from a real cigarette... well, then there you go!!

I wouldnt worry - I tried a cig after I began vaping and I felt ILL - sick, dizzy, faint - thats a lot of nic I was getting and htese were ultralights. I dont get that with my 12mg juice and I vape all day (if Im at home).
Imo cigs and ecigs are NOT comparable because you dont use them the same way, they dont deliver nic the same way and they dont contain similar things apart from nic. I never put a cig down for a few mins then went back to it for another few puffs before leaving it again - I would smoke a whole one, finish it then light another a bit later (a bit not a LOT).
To me its like asking how many apples equal an orange.
If you feel fine and arent showing any adverse affects then I wouldnt be concerned; if you are worried though you should do whatever you need to to feel tranquil (timing your vaping sessions, reducing nic whatever you feel is best for YOU) :)

Honestly I'm guessing what made you dizzy wasn't the nic at all, but the additives and the gasses released by burning plant material robbing you of oxygen.
Most likely the carbon monoxide.

I think that is what gives most people the "buzz" they talk about.
A lot of nicotine would make you "wired" but I think "buzz" is a misleading term.
