So I have a clone carvela mech mod and a clone dark horse atomizer... for a battery I'm using a 3.7volt 3000mah battery I don't know how to find the amps but in pretty sure it's 40amps. I want to know what the safest coil size I should use bc I'm new to using mech mods.. I orders some .5 ohm hive coils from eBay bc I don't know how to wrap yet... can u use them in my rda safely? Plz help me out! Thanks!

Probably best to refer questions to your other thread on the subject.

There is no such thing as a 40a 3000mah 18650, all of them are 4.2v full charged, in your other thread you said it was a 3200mah.
What name brand and any letters / numbers to help identify the battery.

If you don't understand the basics of using a mechanical safely it would be best not to use it at all until you do.

Ohms law is your friend... learn it... use it. There are plenty of Ohms law calculators out there... a quick Google search will get ya all set up.

Meanwhile, the battery you're using is likely either an LG HG2, a Samsung 30Q, or a Sony VTC6. Those are all rated at 3000 mAh and between 16 and 20 Amps. There is no such thing as a 40 Amp 18650 (or any rating above 30 Amps), and no such thing as an 18650 with more than 3000 mAh. There is an inverse relationship between mAh and Amp rating... this higher the mAh, the lower the Amps.

Google Mooch battery tests. While you're waiting to do that, this might help...

If you are using a mech you really should do a little research on battery safety. This may help.

Check out some of @Mooch's battery blogs for other cells (and their bench tests).

I, too, would advise you to do more homework prior to using a mechanical mod SAFELY. You need to learn about potential dangers of using a mech, and more about battery discharge rates and figuring ohms law configurations whether you are making your own coils or buying premade, and being able to positively identify a battery by its appearance and know its TRUE specifications.

A Beginner's Guide to Your First Mechanical Mod
  • Covers the differences between a mechanical vs. regulated mod, essential safety accessories, optional safety accessories to add layers of safety to your mech, routine maintanance, use of proper batteries, proper ventilation, low resistance vaping, and faux hybrid mods.
Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations for a Mechanical Mod
  • As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept.
Battery Basics for Mods: The Definative Battery Guide for Vaping
  • A popular and essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.
Deeper Understanding of Mod Batteries Part 1
  • For those who want to learn the differences between IMR, IMR/hybrid, ICR, and LiPo batteries. What do those numbers and letters on batteries mean? What's an amp rating and why is it more important than the mAh rating when choosing a battery for vaping?
Are You Using a Rewrap (Rebranded) Battery?

  • Learn what a rewrap cell is. If you are using rebranded cell, does that mean it is inferior, poor quality, or even dangerous? Which batteries are suspected to be rebranded batteries.

Yup. As I said in the other thread, this is not gear for a newbie. Best to leave it alone until you understand more. Being a good coil builder is an absolute prerequisite to successfully using a mech mod. You'll do a lot better getting a small regulated mod-- something like a Pico-- and practicing your coil building skills in the Dark Horse. I'll give one tip: hive coils have no place on one-battery tube. That's far too much wire to try and heat with one battery in any reasonable time. For a mech, unless it's a multi battery box or a competition piece only vaped for two or three hits before breaking it down, slick wire is best.

You've gotten a ton of good resources and information and I hope you will look at some of them and proceed with caution. My first vaping equipment was not a mech mod, for a reason. It's good to get a general understanding of e-cigarettes and coil building using a regulated mod, as well as adjusting to switching to vaping which can be quite a task on it's own. Please put the mech away and proceed with something a little easier, honestly, the mech will be there while you are learning more.
