Hi Bronccat. If it helps, I've vaped every flavor on your list except the first two and hated all of them. Not mild distate or kinda icky - my tastebuds hated them. Someone here mentioned PureCig from FSUSA. That's the only one that's worse than any on your list for my palate. The poster was trying to share something that tastes like a burning cigarette. PureCig nailed the smell you'd get putting your nose in a cup full of damp cigarette butts and ashes in a juice.

I have found a couple of BWB and one JC juice I enjoy. I'm not picking on them.

Try increasing your nic level to 24 and 18mg juices if you're getting cigarette craves. You might want to try vaping flavorless juice with nic for a few days to cleanse your palate and try again. I had a horrible time finding juice I enjoyed but it's worth the search. reviews are worthless imo. You read, get excited, order and blech. It's crazy how different we are in juice enjoyment. GourmetVapor is having a 50% off sale. You could grab some 3ml samplers very inexpensive to try lots of flavors. Or check the Deals and Steals thread for sales happening from other suppliers. Try to vape opposing flavors rather than two alike back-to-back. It'll bring your tastebuds back in focus. Eating a cracker or something salty followed by cold water helps too. Hope you find your happy vape quickly.

Thanks everyone for the plethora of information. I have alot to work with here, in particular: it's not just me, try other juices and certainly the insight posted above about V4life cartos. It is an auto ecig and it's usually the 2nd or 3rd drag before I get a good amount of vapor.

The other thing I hadn't considered enough was the dehydrating effect.

Ya'll have given me lots of new things to try and lots of hope. It is greatly appreciated.

Dehydration was a biggie for me. Gosh awful headaches, bad taste in my mouth - I thought it might be PG until I asked about it on the forum. (Bless these good folks!) It was amazing how fast it hit me. Now I make sure I'm well hydrated, and find I feel fine - that "hangover" feeling has gone away completely. I did go through a period where nothing tasted good, or tasted like much at all, but I believe that was normal burning plant matter withdrawl. Still a bit phlemy, but no nagging cough. All in all, very worth the effort.

I'd agree with the others that finding the right juice is the biggest challenge - even more so than finding the right vaping equipment. Taste is so subjective and it will change with time now you've stopped smoking completely. I'm lucky to have found two vendors - Smokeless Image and Mr. E Liquid - who between them make 6 flavors I really like, so I have plenty to satisfy me while I explore around for more. I find SI liquid to be pretty mellow, personally, and good for "all day" vapes sans the throat irritation or drastic loss of flavor I tend to get with stronger flavors. They only sell 30ml bottles of juice, but they do have sampler packs of prefilled cartos you could try, which would give you an opportunity to test out both the liquid and the cartos to see if you like them.

All the very best to you on your journey - don't give up!

Hi Here is a thing that helped me with cleansing my mouth, bad taste, white tongue, and dehydration. Use a mouthwash for dry mouth after vaping. I use Biotene. It helps alot. I even swallow a bit to help my throat. When I started vaping I lost my voice for a week. My favorite tobacco flavor is Vapor Station's Frisco Or Vapor Station Frost. My advice is buy the best equipment you can afford. I am on my 4th setup a Chuck and waiting for my Buzz a variable voltage rig. Each one is a little better than the last. This is just my opinion. Many here are happy with the starter kits but they just didn't scratch my itch. I wish you the best of luck and stick with it, I am.

Thanks all for the continuing advice. I have ordered some more juice samples + I am going to get a manual battery to work with.

And definitely I am going to try the mouthwash (and pickle? :p) thing. I've got some homemade spicy garlic pickles that may do the trick.

The other good news is that I have a local friend who has his starter kit on order so we can share e-juice (OK that sounded bad) and resources.

I was wondering why I was getting slight headaches the last few days, now I know. Amazing what you can learn by just browsing through these posts. You guys are so full of knowledge :). I am still waiting for my 510 to get here, my cheap gas station PV quit so I'm stuck with analogs till I get it. I'm at the same point you are I think, I want to stick with the e-cig, and will, just have to find the right combination of nic level and flavor. I experimented with a choc coconut flavor (mounds?) that when I get the right mixture I might stick with for my main one, along with occasional tobacco flavor. But I ramble, good luck and I hope you do find the flavor and nic level that works for you.

Great that you have a friend to share with- I don't know a single person that vapes, and all my buds look at me like I'm nuts.

UPDATE

Here's the long and short - over the last few months I have acquired about 24 different bottles of juice.

VG, PG, VG/PG blend of varying degrees, different vendors, different flavors of tobacco, different nicotine levels.

ONE thing that has kept me from taking up the vaping habit... sweetness.

Everything I have tried tastes so sweet to me that I literally feel it's leaving sugar on my lips LOL.

What am I missing - do they all taste sweet or am I just having bad luck?

In addition to the brands / flavors below I have tried Johson Creek, Vermillion River, Gourmet Vapor

Hi all. Incredible resource here. I spent many hours reading posts here before buying my first e cig - and many more leading up to this thread.

I am a Marl Light and Cam Light smoker for 20 years. Last 5 years or so, 10 or fewer a day, averaged about a pack a day over the 20 years.

I have quit for as long as 4 months before, and now sometimes I would go up to 24 hours without a cigarette.

So anyway, I wanted to quit. I got my first kit from Vapor4Life (vapor king e cigs) and the 555 cartos + blanks.

At this point I am a week in, have tried the below juices (with comments) and I feel like I am a bit lost.

I started vaping a week ago Saturday night. By the next night (no cigarettes) I woke up half sick. Felt like my mouth was coated in sugar and my lungs coated in artificial flavors (for lack of a better term). Couldn't get the taste out of my body.

Hacked up alot of clear phlegm, lots of throat irritation. Bear in mind I was barely inhaling, like I would take a drag into my mouth and then inhale just a little of that. Otherwise I would have coughed my head off.

In addition to not inhaling much, never had a 14 - 16 puff session. I'd guess in that first 24 hours I took 40 draws maybe?

I spent the week trying other liquids and this has led to my desperation.

Everything I have tried either tasted like nutty, candied, whatever - or - some of the most "basic tobacco" flavors just felt like (and tasted like) I was inhaling toxic powder.

Not a tobacco flavor to me - just some odd irritant.

Almost immediately, headaches, itchy throat, etc.

Same technique as before: half inhaling, no long sessions (usually 3 or 4 puffs then I walk away).

Tried mixing juices, found some more tolerable mixtures but still grew tired quickly and started getting a little ill.

So, is it just me?
Am I expecting too much out of the flavor?
I mean will it never simply just taste like a cigarette?
What's with all of the irritation? (I know that's a broad question)
The closest parallel I can draw is like I spent a night drinking beer and smoking someone else's marlboro ultra lights (which always gave me a headache and irritated my airways - whereas lights didn't). And the cigarettes gave me a worse hangover than the beer LOL.

I think the most discouraging thing for me is when I read other people's reactions to vaping and the flavors I have listed below, I do feel like I am in the minority with these issues. As I mentioned above, in general the flavors either overwhelmed me with loud sweetness – or were highly irritating and tasted toxic.

I really want this to work - but I am really surprised by the irritation, phlegm and nausea. I know in some other threads people have remarked that often times these are symptoms of your "body without smoking" but I don't buy that in my case. Too many days I have skipped smoking and not felt like this.

I really appreciate any feedback you can provide.

Here are the flavors I have tried to far (with comments about how my palate interpreted them)

V4Life - 555 – 8mg: First thing I tried. Smells like kettle corn to me, tastes very sweet and nutty
VS Tampa 11 mg: a little bit smoky smell, but very sweet. Too sweet for me to vape, steeping now.
Red Oak – Wisconsin Frost – 11 mg VG: I only got this one to add a little minty taste to others – haven’t tried by itself.
Red Oak – Tennessee Cured – 11 mg VG: smell is overwhelmingly sweet like caramel / butterscotch. Taste not much smoky, but lots of sweet flavors (same comments for next two, but I expected it with the Valencia)
Red Oak – Domestic – 11 mg VG: above
Red Oak – Valencia – 11 mg VG: above
Backwoods Brew – Backo – 11 mg: barely a sweet smell. Has a moment of smoke taste, but mostly for me vaping it felt like I was inhaling a irritant powder (throat hit) with nothing but a “chemical taste”. I know these are popular, but maybe I didn’t smoke enough before I vaped to enjoy these. I was REALLY looking forward to these and was really disappointed because I find them highly irritating. Ugh.
Backwoods Brew – Virginia – 11 mg:
Backwoods Brew – Adirondack – 11 mg:

Thanks All!
