Considering vapor again after being disappointed the first time around

Hi! I'm so glad I found this forum! I've been smoking since I was 11 and I thoroughly enjoy it, but hate the smell and the seclusion. I have 3 daughters (ages 3 - 12) so we don't smoke in the house and we live in Northern NY so going to the garage or porch to freeze my .... off is getting old!

Anyhow, I bought the Blu brand last year when NY upped it's taxes for the umpteenth time and was disappointed. It was a lot like sucking air through a straw! It's great when I needed a nicotine hit while at work or when my husband flies for work and sneaks into the airplane potty, but it's not a good option for us to give up analogs.

Right now we're smoking analogs from the nearby Indian reservation, but they have more disadvantages than other analogs, like stained fingers. I've never had that smokers stain before having these cheapo's and, frankly, it's embarrassing.

So, I started looking into ecigs again and came across this forum. So much great information!! I haven't been able to pull myself away from all of the information all morning! I feel like I may finally be able to make the permanent move to vaping rather than smoking! Reading all of the thorough reviews on products that include throat hit is awesome!

I'm pretty sure I'll be placing an order for the 510 along with a combination of traditional tobacco flavored liquid and a few fun flavors just to try. I also found a site with a purple LED, and that makes this purple fanatic ecstatic!

Any tips y'all can offer is appreciated. I've read the FAQ's and watched some great videos... I'm convinced it'll be a more enjoyable experience than the last shot with Blu!

Congratulations on making the choice to give it another try! :)

Before you choose the 510, you should ask yourself if the battery life will end up bothering you eventually. If you work from home it may be just perfect for you, but be warned that the battery life on the 510 is about 2-3 hours so you'll need to be switching out the battery to recharge it quite a bit if you smoke more than about 1/2 a pack a day.

Not that it's a bad choice of e-cigs - IMO it's a great choice! Just has a shorter battery life due to it's small size. If you think you might want an e-cig with a longer battery life, you might consider getting an eGo kit instead: the battery lasts between 6-10 hours between charges so you can run around most of the day and not have to worry about it. Plus, the eGo is basically just a 510 with a bigger battery, so it'll work with all the other 510 compatible stuff. PLUS: you can get it in purple, which looks pretty cool: Joye eGo Starter Kit Purple | Joye eGo Electronic Cigarette

but it really depends on what YOU think will work best for YOU, not me. Good Luck! :)

Hi! I also smoked since age11. I have learned how much better it is to be analog free, but still have the nicotine and hand to mouth I have known for so long. Word to the wise. Don't be hung up on having it look "like a real cig". I made that mistake and ended up buying another pv to replace my 510 slim. (slim works great, but battery life leaves much to be desired!!)
If you have any questions, have some free time and want real time answers, ecf also has a chat that is available and well worth the effort.
Good luck! and hang in there!!! it only gets better from here!

I did see a lot of talk about the battery life and that's reason I haven't ordered the 510 just yet. I'm a SAHM now so most of the time I will be able to charge often. My younger daughter has recurring medical needs that requires us to travel at least twice a year, not to mention those days I just get caught running errands all day... so I am tempted to get the longer battery. (and the kit you linked to has more than the kit I found)

Am I mistaken or is the eGo shorter? Short and heavy would be easier than long and heavy (like the Blu).

The 510 is a great ecig but battery life, as Rosa said, is short and you will always have one on charge to swap when the other goes dead. I second the Ego and will add that the Ego-T tank is the way to go these days. The tank atomizer is easy to refill, will last you half a day and refill in less than a minute (30 seconds once you have done it once or twice). The vapor and taste are great and there are almost no leakage problems with the version 2 models that are now out.

OTOH, the 510 is cheap and is fine for home use. You will want the Ego for going out and about and for work away from home.

It's about 1/4" longer than the 510 and maybe twice as wide around (about as wide around as a sharpie, not as wide as a lipstick).

Any kit you get (510 or eGo) should have at least the following:

2 batteries
2 atomizers
1 charger (or a wall adapter and a usb cord)
5 cartridges

You can't get by with less than that (especially, don't buy a kit that only has one battery - instant failure)

Welcome to ECF!!

If having your PV be close to the same size as a regular cigarette is MANDATORY, then the 510 is the perfect choice!

When I started vaping, I thought that my e-cig would have to look and feel like an analog. After a week, I changed my mind after having to change batteries every 2-3 hours, always having to recharge them every few hours.

The eGo (and even better yet, the eGo-T) are probably the best entry level PV you could ever ask for. The standard eGo with the stock battery (650mah) is about the size of a sharpie marker, maybe a touch thicker. The batteries on them last 6-8 hours, so you have to stop and change batteries much less.

The eGo also has an available 1000mah battery that gives you 8-12 hours without a recharge or swap, but it's about an inch longer.

In my opinion, the eGo-T (T for Tank) is the best e-cig on the market. You get the flavor and vapor of dripping without having to carry a bottle around, and filling the tanks is just as quick as refilling a cartridge. Plus, you have the benefit of seeing how much juice is left in the tank.

I have attached a picture for a comparison. Mine is the eGo-T with the extended life 1000mah battery. I have gone 10 hours of heavy vaping between charges, and you can keep going all day just by bringing a few extra tanks of juice with you. I'm a heavy vaper, and my tanks last about 3-4 hours before they're empty.

My eGo-T with the "long" 1000mah battery weighs about the same as a dry erase marker, you can see the picture of it in the above post by me.

Heh, third post in a row!

The best place (In my opinion) to get the eGo-T is Cignot.com

Reason 1: Good price
Reason 2: Best customer service and shipping in the industry
Reason 3: They only sell the latest revision of the eGo, many other stores are still selling the original "Version 1" atomizers.
Reason 4: Color and Battery power choices are great, with easy to understand ordering.

https://www.cignot.com/product_p/kit-egt-all.htm

For $90, you can have two full eGo's with the 1000mah batteries, shipped priority anywhere in the US.

I am a purple fanatic too :) My nickname is actually purple haha
Thats why I lOVE my silver 510 with the purple LED light, I got mine from thevaporpro.com , shipped same day I ordered and got it 2 days later. I was skeptical that Id be able to give up the analogs but I havent had one since my first vape :) I have friends who had the blu with no succsses of quitting the analogs as well.
I do hope you try it again and it works for you! As far as the battery..My 510 battery lasts me all day when I get home I switch it for the spare on the charger and switch again in the am before work etc etc..I have not had it die on me..I only vape when I normally would have an analog though (in the morn on my 20 min commute, maybe 3 or 4 times during the work day 10 mins at a time, on the way home, before and after dinner) then I switch to a new batt
Definatley order some fun flavors, after my first 3 days I discovered I hated the taste of tobacco haha gourmet vapors has some GREAT ones Im loving, coffee/Pom blue/mint chocalate..Im finding when Im drinking or around others who are smoking analogs I crave the tobacco again, but my all day vape has been gourmet vapors maiden coffee :)

510 is a bit slimmer - a bit more like a cig but has 180mah battery life (1.5-3 hours, less if vaped constantly?) unless you get the longer 510 mega batteries (280mah or 3-5 hours charge life if not vaped constantly) which make it about 135mm long w/ atomizer and cart or about 130mm with a standard cartomizer. 510 comes as a 3-piece - be sure to have at least 2 atomizers in case one dies and so you can use one while cleaning the other (I clean weekly). PCCs are available (portable charging case - a different PCC for mega batteries).

KR808D-1 comes as a 2-piece so it is more dependent on cartomizers. It's also a biut thicker and about 120mm long with a cartomizer on. Cartomizers have limited lifespan - you may be able to refill one for 5-7 days before it seems weak or tastes off (unless you run it dry and singe the stuffing cutting its life short). You can add another model's atomizer to it and use carts but if you plan to use carts you may as well get the 510.

Both are nice - I think I would recommend 510 or Ego for you (EGo is the fatter-battery model with 6-8 hour battery life). The Ego's greater battery charge also gives you the option of using more power-hungry harder and hotter hitting low resistance parts.

Whatever you get - buy some ejuice to start out with (20-30ml) and then order better ejuice elsewhere. Many hardware vendors just sell the Chinese 100% PG ot 100% VG juices. I like US juices around 70pg/30vg (PG lets through the nicotine harshness and TH, VG smooths it a bit and adds more visible vapor). I like Backwoods Brew, FreedomSmokeUSA and others for juice.

I use both KR808D-1 (Vapor4Life.com model) and a 510 with a cartomizer or a 306 atty which also fits it

I really like this kit! If the battery can last that long, than there's one for my husband and I both, rather than ordering two 510 kits. (Hoping to get him to do this again, he wasn't happy that I bought the Blu and then found it sucked! LOL) And if we both stick with it, we can order more parts and pieces as needed instead of a whole other kit, right?

My only caution with getting one kit to share is that there will probably come a time when both batteries are used up and need to recharge and then nobody is going to be vaping for a little while. Also, it's a good idea to get spare batteries and an extra charger too -- usually it's more cost effective for two people to each get their own kit.

Yes... It comes with two complete PV's... You'd want to buy an extra pack or two of the tanks, to make certain that you had enough for both of you. The only downside is if you do happen to have a heavy vaping day and have to recharge, the 1000mah batteries take a good hour or two to charge up.

You can order any single piece from cignot also, new atomizers cost $16, 650mah batteries are $20, 1000mah are $24.

So much info... lol

I'm constantly going back and forth between the options... and it comes back to the frequency of travel. I'm gonna start with the purple eGo, let my husband try mine out. Then if he likes it we can get him his own. We'll have a good feeling for the battery needs after I play with mine.

So, about liquids... I found small bottles for $6 each on one of the many sites (I think i was rocky mountain vapor) I've visited today... is that a fair price to mix and match my own sampling of flavors? Or is there better priced multi-flavored sampling kits available?

ok here's food for thought.
I "stole" hubby's spare riva battery , and used it for a month and a half till I bought a second battery. I only bought the one setup, because at the time I had already purchased the 510 and funds were not there for much more. I managed nicely with the riva battery and my 510 cartos(I don't like having to constantly fill my equipment to vape so I went with cartos. 1 will last a good while.) charging every evening after hubby's charged. So even if you HAD to purchase only one kit. the option of purchasing a second battery for 14. isn't gonna hurt too badly. But you would be sharing cartridges.
Also note, you don't hold an ecigarette like you hold an actual cigarette (no betweenthe fingers and puff). You hold it more like you would a handle or a pen you were handing to someone. So fat or heavy isn't really an issue.
