Heard any good conspiracy theories lately?

How about this:

"The cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe which has left hundreds dead was caused by the UK, an ally of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has said.
Information Minister Sikhanyiso Ndlovu described the outbreak as a "genocidal onslaught on the people of Zimbabwe by the British"."

I've got a great book on conspiracy theories , i'll have to dig it out and quote some.

One i do remember of hand was:
H.I.V. is a man made virus, introduced into third world countries by western governments to reduce the financial strain on western resources.

and ofcourse 9/11 was an inside job..

There are claims that AIDS is a man-made disease (i.e. created by scientists in a laboratory). Glad I saved you the trouble of starting a thread Darcy. I got the idea from Apo's status thing - 'conspiracy theorist', maybe he was giving us both subliminal messages

The badger theory is very funny, I like that one. The AIDS one is disturbing ... it makes me think 'what if ...' someone could be so warped to do that.

As for Darcy's nicotine conspiracy theory, well it would be just typical for us as recovering smokers for that to be true

Lets hope our current dealers are more ethical than the big tobacco companies have been.

On the other hand... Substantial part of a proud race f-cked monkeys so much and so often the monkey virus mutated into human-killing form...
Old ill mujahedin with a portable dialysis machine in a cave sent 20 guys with beards, prayer beads and box cutters who crippled a superpower for a couple of days and in some ways forever...

I think the conspiracy theories might be even kinder than what is accepted as undisputable reality.

Actually Frankie, I'm pretty sure it crossed from monkeys to humans by people eating monkeys. There was very little, if any monkey, f-cking involved.

Used to work with a guy years ago. He was a lovely sweet bloke, astonishingly clever but dreadfully naive. We wound him up by telling him that SETI was actually a cover for the CIA and they were "watching" him through his computer. Took us ages to persuade the poor sod we were just kidding!
