So I got my expansion and GGTS base yesterday, but after I cleaned my whole Ody and changed the ceramic, I couldn't seem to make a coil without it shorting. I tried setting it up in GGTS, dripping, and 510 mode, all with the same results, all well as using 3 types of R wire, and both the silver and stock NR wire. I know that my coil wasn't the problem, but I just can't seem to isolate the problem. Can someone please post suggestions as to rectifying my problem? As a side note, there was an oring between my metal ceramic holder and center pin that melted, so I removed it and tried it with both the extra small oring that came with the expansion and also without an oring.

Sounds like center pin is touching the ceramic housing and shorting out. An o-ring is definitely needed here and it has to be a large enough diameter to keep to two parts totally separated. If the oring is too small it will just go up into the bottom hole of the ceramic housing (eliminating the center pin from moving laterally but still allowing contact on the bottom of the housing.) I have taken to using two 2/1 o-rings under the standard 3/1.8 o-ring. Maybe overkill but keeps the center pin 'centered' and prevents the original o-ring from squishing out as bad when the center pin is tightened.

Pics to come, but I think I solved the issue! I mangled an old 510-510 adapter and took the rubber piece that separates the center pin from the - housing! Fits perfectly in the Odysseus metal ceramic housing and is just long enough to extend all the way through the hole while just barely touching the actual ceramic, and it has a roughly 1.5mm disc that creates a gap between the flat part of the center pin and the bottom of the housing!

Absolutely no leakage so far! With the only slight exception being after the initial fill. That being said, I have an extra, very thin, o-ring between the GGTS base and the upper connection nut, so the grounded (-) wire sits in between the o-ring and the nut. The coil I have running right now is total garbage, but it works and it's still better than most china aties!

Whether we all have the skills or not, I think as a lot, we GG owners are tinkerers by nature. Not meaning to steal your thread but almost every day that I read the forums, it is a mix of "why didn't I think of that" and amazement at the creativity of GG users.

I have yet to see an "issue" real or perceived that hasn't received some amazing solutions. Having been away for over a week only makes it more apparent to me when I see the problem resolution at work. ;)

That's what the family is all about man!
I'm a total Imeo fanboy, so idk what it's worth, but I truly believe that the GG (and by extension Odysseus, the UFS, and all of Imeo's other creations) is bar none the best ecig in the world. The catch 22 is that some of Imeo's products are a little finicky, and probably best belong in the hands of the mechanically inclined. They also require a lot of time spent on maintenance and tinkering. Since I got my Ody, i've been spending upwards of 3-4 hours a night playing with mine (the girlfriend couldn't be happier......)

That's called "the learning curve". When u get used to Your new stuff, it will be a piece of cake. :)

For future reference, should you need to replace that insulator you don't need to cannibalize another adapter. You can buy them here at $1 for a 4-pack ;-)
