Someone brought this to my attention earlier this evening: https://stori.es/share/ecigstories (This link does in fact go back to the Consumers Union, aka Consumer Reports)

From the tone of the questionnaire and their past article history, I'm wondering if they're hoping for fail or even horror stories. Needless to say, it would be sweet irony if they ended up swimming in success stories instead. :vapor: Keep in mind, Consumers Union is the advocacy arm of Consumer Reports. Depending on their current view of vaping, we might could earn another positive voice for our side with enough success stories. On the other hand, they may simply be trolling for negatives to advocate against vaping with. Only you can decide if it's worth putting yourself out there. Personally, I'm tired of being alluded to as a figment of someone's imagination because I found it easy to quit smoking via e-cigarettes almost 5 years ago while no other method worked.

I submitted my story. Hope it doesn't turn out biased as so many have.

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

I dont mean to be argumentative
its ingrained in my heritage, my nationality didnt even have freedom until the mid 80's and my family is old and they tought me about real oppression and they said you stand up for what you want and believe in. Cause aint nobody gonna hand it to you or care otherwise.even if you dont think they are listening.

We cant pick our fight, when we are presented with a chance to speak it is mandatory we push back or we will all be smokin njoy's.
ask the people over in the SG forum what it feels like to never even have a voice.

All you people on facebook, on twitter ,tell your vaping friends. Tell your local shops tell anyone you know who vapes to go there and pound them with the truth, vaping saved my life and I will fight To keep it

The fact that one of the questions is "How long have you smoked e-cigarettes" turns my stomach.

I'm right there with ya DC, but then it seems like quite a few people make that mistake in the beginning. And then there's the fact that a form of the word smoke was used in the title of this very sub-forum until they did a revamp. ;)

Expecting them to do something objective with the replies to this story thing - good luck with that. It won't be "90% of our respondents have reported no negative problems" it will be "10% of our respondents reported dangerous side effects."
I wouldn't be surprised if they use the results to say that people using electronic cigarettes to quit smoking have not been successful...
Because almost all of them are still using the electronic cigarette daily and still using nicotine.

Having said that, I think it's better to put our stories in there than not...
Otherwise with the stories they DO get they would probably be able to paint an even worse picture if they so desired.

And here's what I wrote...

First of all, I use electronic cigarettes daily, but not once in my entire life have I ever "smoked" one. I really hope you understand that, because if you don't then you really have no business writing an article about electronic cigarettes. Secondly, not only have I not experienced any of the problems you offered as choices, but really it's been quite the opposite. Not sure on why you aren't asking what health improvements I've had instead of asking what problems I've had. Sounds a lot like you're looking to do a hit piece.

Anyway, as for my experiences with electronic cigarettes, I used them to quit smoking over five years ago. When I was smoking I could only hold my breath for about 30 seconds. After 12 months of VAPING I could hold my breath for around 90 seconds. After 17 months of vaping I got a Pulmonary Function test and my results were slightly better than average. After 30 months of vaping I could hold my breath for around 110 seconds.

I hope when you write this series of print articles, you do the right thing, because people's lives are at stake.

When I submitted I made sure to check 'other' when they referred to vaping as smoking. I then explained in the note section that I do NOT smoke pvs (personal vaporizers) but vape them.

I gave an account of my improved blood work, lung capacity and also told them that any other methodology of tobacco cessation ended up making me ill.

I've not had a cigarette in 6 years in April, so my tobacco use is a thing of the past.

Also asked them to seriously consider my input as I've given my health serious consideration, and without the PVs, my health would still be at risk.
I then thanked them for reading and hope it will serve the purpose for which it is intended.

wish I could hit like on that more than once.
It's a good thing I answered it when I first heard about it, because the more I think about it, the more snarky my answers seem to become.

I trust CR's...a LOT. They are known for their integrity. So this is exciting. Found this on their website...

Who's getting rich from e-cigarettes?

Q. I always thought of electronic cigarettes as kind of a fringe thing—then I started seeing ads (no doubt expensive ones) for them with celebrities like Jenny McCarthy. Who's really behind these products?

A. It's not the tiny companies you might have expected. It's true that initially, e-cigarettes were the domain of small, largely Internet-based outfits. But they have caught the attention of Big Tobacco companies, several of which are now behind the biggest and most aggressively marketed e-cig brands. Market leader Blu is owned by Lorillard, maker of Newport, Kent, and other cigarette brands; Reynolds American (maker of Camel) and Altria (which owns Philip Morris USA, maker of Marlboro) have also gotten in on the game, launching the Vuse and MarkTen brands, respectively. Other signs that e-cigs have hit the mainstream? Victory Electronic Cigarettes trades on the Nasdaq stock exchange.  And perhaps most telling, you can now find a variety of electronic cigarette brands at your local Sam’s Club and Walmart.

I hope they spread the word that those crappy cigarette-like devices are actually a scam. IMHO, the sole purpose of these devices is to not work, and to scare smokers away from eCigs forever. I also hope the respondents tot he survey indicate which type of device they've been using.

Thanks for this !
I responed similar.

e-cigarettes - those devices marketed to help smokers quit smoking or just be a safe alternative to smoking work fantastic if you buy a decent product.
I smoked over a pack a day for over 30 years and the first set of a rechargeable and reusable e-cigarette set up I bought instantly freed me from tobacco. I could not believe that after all the prescription drugs, gums and patches I used that never worked, this was the real cure for me.
Never again have I smoked anything. My health is fantastic, no more smelly breath, no more smelly clothes, no more cigarette burns or starting fires from matches or anything.
These e-cigarette devices were passed on and now I vape with a vaporizer, which is computer chip controlled and can dial in the amount of vapor I wish to inhale or just breath it out my nose. Yes, you do not have to breath in to your lungs to get some nicotine absorption into your body. I hope Consumer Reports will responsibly post the outcome of this survey, so that smokers and non smokers alike can benefit from this miracle of this century. Vaping is only getting better by the day with products and safety. All Americans should be on board with vaping education as their are hardly any side effects health wise for users and certainly no 2nd hand effects to bystanders. Thanks to the original American inventor for this.:2c:
and 2c. does add up! :2cool:

I did not find the drop down box for email proof back - where's that at?

They email you and you have to respond to the email. It checks that you are a valid person with a working email. If you don't see it in your email box, check your junk mail. :)
