Entry #3
I work in Hospice.
I care for people at the end of their lives.
I have friends who ask me, 'How can you do that?' and 'Isn't it depressing?'
I answer, 'No, no, it's not depressing at all. It's life-affirming.'
We are all going to die.
It's true - shocking to you, I know.
But when the end comes, with Hospice care,
you don't have to die alone.
You don't have to die in pain.
You don't have to suffer quietly without solace.
Even if I can do no more for you than hold your hand and be present for you, I will do that.
I am so blessed to be able to be a part of so many lives even if only for a short time.
My work reminds me to be grateful for every day.
