Michael was three years old and a precious, delightful child. I was working on dinner in the kitchen and husband had brought me red roses for our anniversary. Michael had begged and begged for one of the roses. I finally relented, carefully removing all the thorns, etc. He took off with his prize.
About 15 or 20 minutes later, I feel a tug on my jeans. I turn around and look down at the most precious face in the world with giant tears falling down his cheeks. I said, what is wrong sweetheart and stooped down to see what had happened. He held out his tiny hands and in one hand he held rose petals and in the other the naked stalk. He looked up at me and said, "Fix it mommi." I have never gotten over that moment.

A dear friend of mine worked very closely with the band Porcupine Tree for many years... releasing some of their recordings on one of his labels, Gates of Dawn. After his passing in 2008, they had a very nice Memorial thread about him on one of their Forums...
