I'm still mildly new here, so I can't give you any better advice than the fine folks here already have. I would most definitely agree with the idea of giving something away that is unique and sets you apart from other vendors. A special e liquid that you make, etc. Also you really just want to show everyone that you are genuine and care about your customers enough to make them want to keep coming back and buying products from you. Good customer service can get you a long way in my book.

Ah - Contest . . .

As one of the many Contest "JUNKIES" of ECF, I can tell "You" that there are many different types of contest that many people enjoy and those that stand out a little more then others are ones that (in general) . . .

1) Have Very Clear and Defind , especially when the Contest Starts & Ends
(There are "Contest Police" out there - Just Sayin' . . . )

2) The "Winner" is picked at "RANDOM" (use the Random.org & Video is posted in Contest Thread)

3) Are Not To Long or To Fast (especially Do Not take months, unless it involves a series of Prizes)

4) Are Limited to the Number of Entries a person is allowed - especially per day (You will get hit hard by just a few people)

5) Are Themed Based (especially during Holidays), or Takes Some Initiative and/or Have "Substance" to the entries (Those "I'm in entries" Contest are nice, but boring, also - IMO - any contest where a predetermined post number DO Not Really give people a fair or equal chance to Win - are a NO NO . . . Just sayin' . . .) .

6) DO NOT Take People to Social Media Sites (There are many people who vehemently detest Facebook/Tweeter/etc.)


I hope this information is somewhat helpful and that "You" have just as much FUN running the contest as those that enter them . . .

Oh - BTW: Really like the title of this Contest "ITS ALL ABOUT ME" . . .

The Guess the movie, picture when it is distorted are the most fun!!!

My other favorite contest are the ones where you post your favorite cat or kitten recipes!!!

Most of all, make it fun and taunt your contestants when your running the contest.

Don't just post the contest and leave; get involved in it.

I agree with Uncle. Yes, he is a contest junkie, I am too. LOL. And yes, we do have preferences. As long as you stay away from a few things. So, perhaps since others have given such good ideas as to what you should do, maybe what I will do is give you my ideas of what you should not do.

1. Do not do anything that will make people think it is unfair. Like base a contest on the number of "likes" bad bad bad!
2. Do not just come in and make a contest and disappear. I believe that one has already been addressed. Be around, let us know that we are not going to be abandoned when time for the prize comes. lol Get to know us. We are a cool bunch!
3. Do not make a contest based on facebook, tweets or some other, any other thing other than ecf. THIS is ecf. WE like ecf! People here will actually dislike you a lot for trying to take us away from ecf. This is important!
4. We also like random.org because it is totally fair to everyone, no matter what the basis of the contest is.
5. We also like things that will get us involved but not too hard. Do not make us take pictures of ourselves vaping on top of tall buildings and crap like that. bad bad bad!
6. We do like guessing games. How many marbles are in the jar? How many peanuts in the candy bar, etc. but be sure you can give us the correct answer. Again, we are very very picky about fairness.
7. Don't leave it open ended. In other words, make limits. This has been addressed also. If it is about a certain post that wins, limit the number of posts per day or something or you will get 9000 posts per day, back to back. I will be one of the worst! I have no life!
8. If you are going to have a contest, have a good prize. Don't give away a $5.00 prize. Make it memorable. Make people love you.
9. I don't especially love contests with juice as the prize. I play them because I have nothing else to do, but they are not my favorite. just saying.

and last, but certainly not least........

10. If you ever want any women to buy anything from your website........ get some color in there man. Black and White is just plain boring. I know all you guys love the mods and rebuildables and all that jazz, but some pink and red ego's or something. geeeeeeze.

A couple of people have pretty much gone over most of our Contest likes and dislikes already... Except that not only do a lot of people here 'dislike' some of the Social Media sites like Facebook and Twitter, it is also against the ECF's Suppliers TOS to post a link to anything other than your own website... and some Contests have been shut down because of that.


Moving right along... here are some of my thoughts/suggestions:

1) A scavenger hunt is a great idea, but I have seen one where you had to look for a certain word or phrase on a website... which not only drew the people to the site, but made them READ everything, too!!

2) Another idea would be to have people post an item (along with the link to it) that they would like to own. That way you get an idea of what people would actually buy from you, and make them post a different one each time... (ie: no duplicates)

You could also do the reverse of that and have people list an item that you do not carry, but they would like to see on your site.


But whatever you decide, the best way to keep people happy is to make it so that everyone has an equal chance of winning... and don't make promises you can't keep. We all understand if something comes up and you miss a deadline, as long as you keep in touch and let us know about it.

Make your Rules clear, and stick to them!! There will always be people who either don't bother to read the Rules and/or don't pay attention to them... so it helps to have some sort of disclaimer about being disqualified for breaking the Rules.

Also, if you are going to allow chit-chat, it's a good idea to ask them to either # their entries, or state that that a post is "chit-chat".

But the main thing is to Have FUN!!!

I have to agree with Sdh here, I've seen SSSSssssooo many vendors make contests then we never hear from them again.
Any simple weekly contest will keep people around and if you have a helper it would make it easier on you.

OMG! Yes. I could not agree more with Uncle!

Whenever there is a requirement me for me to go to Facebook, I move on to something else. (Actually, isn't a violation of ECF rules for contests to require people to go to Facebook?)

You should do a contest that requires a little thought an intelligence, like put up a riddle and anyone who figures it out gets a bottle of juice, also gets your flavors in peoples hands.
Or since you dont sell juice, maybe a tank or drip tip....

I want you all to know I'm reading every post and there are lots of really good ideas here. You have my word that I will not be an owner that posts a contest and does not actively participate in the thread. I've got skin riding on this thing working and I'll do whatever it takes to make it work.

I like the idea of having you folks cruise the site, find something I sell that you have and write a review on it. The scavenger hunt is also a good one and can be a bit more fun.

I think youve heard everything as far as what people like/dislike about contests! I agree with everything Morri said earlier! Except i like winning juice..when u get to pick the juice you win!

So....as far as a concept for a contest goes....

I say definitely use random.org to pick a winner. .and lets do a picture posting contest! Like everyone gets to enter a maximum of 10 times and you gotta post your 10 FAVORITE things in the world! It can be vaping related (mods, accessories...not other vendors juices lol!) ..pics off the internet, or pics we take ourselves!

I think it'll give us all an awesome opportunity to get to know eachother better...and for you to meet us!!
I know some people are more likely to want to share "personal" info than others. ..but those people can just post pics from online! As long as they abide by ecf rules of course
So....10 posts per person, max...but not required.
U gotta number your posts to show its an entry and allow inevitable "chit chat.". ..
And the pics are of your favorite things! Whatever that means to you!

That's my idea!
