Convert 1.5ohm DC to 3ohm Single Coil

I've got a couple of 1.5ohm dual coil cartos from Smoktech, and just received my Chrome Lavatube V2.0 from Young June.

Now, I want to convert these dual coils, to 3ohm single coils for use with my lavatube and or Ego Twists.

If i cut the 'wire' that runs around the top of the airflow channel, it will be transformed to a 3ohm single coil carto.

My question is, will the top, or the bottom coil be disabled?
Because if the bottom coil is disabled, theoretically not enough juice will wick up through my punched hole, high enough in to the carto, to constantly keep the top coil wet.

It would be awesome if the bottom coil would stay active! Does anyone really know?

I've gone ahead and clipped one dual coil, which is now a 3ohm single coil, works a treat.

But I still don't know which coil is disabled though?

According to this it looks like the bottom coil is functioning and the top disabled. This is actually a really interesting idea, and may work better than their single coils, since normally the coil is about half way up the cartomizer which seems really silly with gravity and the location of the holes.

BTW, clipping the wire works just great. Just make sure the two severed ends are well separated, so that they can not get in to contact with each other. Been using it like that with no problems, and as hippieben says, probably better than most single coils, since it's lower down.
