So I tried several products, ranging from mothers mag to toothpaste and ketchup and vinegar/salt. The best product i've used (and just received an hour ago via amazon) is simichrome. I've attached a before and after pic. Decide for yourself. Thank me later

I have not used texas pete before (although I can't imagine it being much different than vinegar/salt which are probably the main ingredients). The ketchup worked the fastest (I mean literally touching the copper to ketchup changed the color in less than 1 second) but it didnt give a thorough cleaning. My king clone is especially difficult to clean since it has fine grooves from the machining which is why I had to step it up. The mothers mag worked almost as well, but required more work and didnt have quite the shine I got from the simichrome. The downside is the simichrome is expensive compared to everything else. I also used wax after cleaning and it seems to help but doesnt really prevent tarnishing. Might have to step it up to a sealant

I bought an ultrasonic cleaner, and used a water/vinegar/dawn solution, and it works great on copper, but just ok on the brass that I have. But using a simichrome and then using the ultrasonic cleaner makes it better than new (no, really, better than new). I think I found my combo solution. So purty

I patina all my copper mods. I think it looks better and the only parts I need to polish are the threads and contacts.

I just got a copper mech and it has a nice patina on the outer tube that I like - but I want to clean the inner tube and contacts. What do you use to polish/clean the threads? Not sure if I should use a cloth or brush - and what kind of material do you use to polish.

so another update. The simichrome works the best, but requires too much work for my lazy a....... I mean its less work that the popular mothers, but still too much work. Today I tried bar keepers friend. Wow this stuff works super quick. Requires almost zero polishing. Just put some on a microfiber towel, twist the mod a couple times, and it removes all the tarnishing. Its not quite as shiny as simichrome, but considering how little work it requires, its the new winner for me.
