Has anyone tried using desoldering braid as a cart filler?
It seems like it might do the trick really well seeing as it is typically copper and intended to wick solder in a fluid state. Kinda like steel wool without the fire or small particle hazards.
Was thinking about ordering some from dealextreme.com to give it a whirl, just wondering if anyone else had tried it.
DealExtreme: $2.63 Soldering Remover Ball (Large)
Note that some desoldering braid has been treated with flux to help the solder flow onto it, not sure of the exact composition of flux but it would probably be a good idea to look for flux free if anyone decides to try it out.
Sea Braid Copper Desoldering Braid from Easy Braid Co.
(not 100% sure if the DX stuff is -but willing to check it out for 3$)
