Copper Max

I used the Zmax controller board out of a busted up clearmax mod.
The housing is 3/4″ L-type copper
Used acrylic to make a protective window for the display
Used a remote tac switch in place of the stock switch
two styles of acid etching on the body and caps.


Uses 1-18650 flat top or button top battery
Can also use 2x 18350 or cr123 batteries without an extension cap

Really lovely work! The switch you used, did you need any extra electronics to run the smaller switch?

From what I discovered, the stock switch on the z-max board has about 3.3 volts going through it. pressing the switch brings the voltage to 0 volts... So to answer your question, no. I don't have extensive knowledge in electronics but I think the smaller switch will last because there isn't any real power going through it. I could be wrong though. It would be nice to have more information on the z-max boards.

nice etching, that looks great! where did you learn how to etch? and on you tube mods that you used the 3/4in pipe, how are you securing the battery caps? they don't look threaded.

There is a pin soldered into the cap and and a notch cut into the copper tube. I cut the notch down a couple of mm at it's stopping point and the spring tension forces the cap down, preventing the cap from spinning lose. I got the idea from Copper Tube Mods - A 3.7v and a V.V.

I get ya, so its a press and twist thing. What kind of acid did you use for the etching, and what did you do for the design? Did you hand draw it on with a sharpy or use a iron-on printed transfer?

I might actually be able to do something like this since it doesn't require "me" to manually create the etch.

What acid and transfer technique did you use?
