Ok so, i have Baditude's page bookmarked and have read his posts a few different times and i think i have a pretty good understanding of what i'm doing (i think). I currently have two mechanical mods that i basically bought on impulse. One from my local vape shop, which i've done some research on and it appears to be a Tesla clone, i also purchased an Atty rda to start off with (this was about 4-5 months ago). I also purchased a Panzer Black Hawk Clone from a supplier on eBay (i know i'm probably going to get sh** for that). I bought a few RDA clones after that here and there but just couldn't quite get the hang of it and pretty much gave up.

Realizing I'm not very good at building my own coils i've done some looking into RBA's or Cartos. I just purchased a new Kangertech Subtank Mini which comes with some OCC coils, a 1.5 Ohm Coil already installed. But, i'm kind of nervous using it in either of the mech mods i have, personally i'm really interested in buying a regulated box mod device. I have two Sony 18650VTC4 2100mAh 30A which i purchased from RTD Vapor at the recommendation of Baditude.

My main question is, what do you guys think i should do? I have yet to use the new Kanger Subtank Mini because i'm thinking i want to use it on a regulated box mod instead of the mech mods i have.

Any advice would be helpful.

Hi Mikecomp and welcome aboard!

With the 1.5 ohm coils, you will only be drawing 2.8 amps on your 30 amp battery. You'll be perfectly safe on you mech mod assuming the mod doesn't have a short (which would be unusual).

The main advantage of regulated mods (besides safety, of course) is that as you use your battery in a mech mod, your power will go down and your vapor will get weaker in a mech. A regulated mod delivers the same power (watts) to the coil until the battery can't support that. Then it's time to recharge, but you get a consistent vape throughout.

Hope it helps and Happy Vaping!

whoops, just realized that is actually a 1.2 ohm OCC head already installed and its comes with a replacement .5 ohm head. i'm using the ohm calculator, assuming a 4.2v fully charged battery and the calculations are suitable for my battery. the only thing that makes me nervous is how high the watts is but i dont think that really matters? my only concern with the mods is the panzer i have hasn't really worked very well with any build i've put on it, that just might be user error.

sorry for the long response i'm just trying to gain as much info as i can.

thanks!

From a battery standpoint you are safe using either stock coil on your mechanical.

Here are the recommended wattage ranges for both the coils (per Kanger) and what you will be getting on a fully charged battery.

1. 0.5 Ohm / Range 15 - 30 W => 35.28 watts
2. 1.2 Ohm / Range 12 - 25 W => 14.7 watts

I don't have any experience with the subtank mini using the stock coils to know how high these coils can be vaped before you might experience dry hits.

On a mech the .5 coil works fine. I got more dry hits off of stock.5 coils on my regulated devices at 30 watts then on a mech that by ohms law puts out 35. I don't know why, but I think it may be due to slower ramp up on the mech. You also won't be getting 35 watts all that long.
Side note.... If you find the right regulated mod, you may never use your mechs again :p
I drip on a variant, sub tank mini with rba on an ipv mini 2, and full size sub tank on a ZNA50. These set ups are so ideal for me, I put one mech away for emergencies, got rid of my other one, and all my other regulated devices are packed back in the boxes they came in to be pif'd and sold :p
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

i was really thinking about getting the ipv mini 2 but of the 3-5 websites i found them on they were all out of stock. my local vape shop has quite a few regulated mods in stock, i think they were aspire? i don't really know much about those which is why i'm hesitant to buy one. i guess i'll just keep looking for a supplier that has the ipv mini 2 in stock.

know any suppliers that have 'em?
