I'm new and I've seen the constant reminder about not using certain juices (citrus etc) with the plastic cartos/clearos. What are the best options to be able to use these juices? I have a ProTank on order but I've also seen that they have heartier plastics that can resist corrosion from these juices?

Thanks in advance!

Hi thegoo,

You can always try them out! I haven't had my evod clearomizers that long (about 2 weeks) and I've had all kinds of juices in them. Some citrus, some really dark, some with menthol. So far so good, for me.

I suppose it's not a real tragedy if one of your clearos gets cracked from a juice, short of the mess it could make. Clearos are pretty cheap to replace, and I hear it takes a while for them to crack.

If you have the spare cash to try out some of the other heavier PC tanks, just go into it knowing they may fail and then you'll be able to tell someone else when they ask. :)

Hi

I try to keep this updated as new products hit the market. Scroll down to "What can we use?"

The Mt Baker list of tank crackers to give you an idea of which flavors might crack, etch or melt a plastic tank. Some plastics hold up better than others (read the coments under the list).
E Juice that may break a plastic tanks | Mt Baker Vapor WikiMt Baker Vapor Wiki

Root Beer is on the list and I'm on my 2nd 50ml bottle with no signs of damage to a Kanger T3.

There can be a lot of variables - different vendor recipes, flavor shots, how long a flavor is kept in a tank, the thickness of the plastic, etc. It can also take quite a while for any signs of degrading to be noticeable. It took a couple of months before I realized there was a problem with my Vivi Nova, and initially all I thought was that it looked weird.

Not every flavor listed as a tank crack will crack a tank every time. My blog is directed more to people who had a tank fall apart and don't know what happened, and a heads up to those looking to buy new gear.

I manage a vape store and just had a customer come in about 2 days ago with some type of cinnamon flavored juice from somewhere, that practically melted 2 tanks in a row in a matter of about a minute. no joke, filled a new tank, he was peiming it and it cracked right in his hands in front of me and started looking like melted plastic, we were both like ...?!?!? filled another, and same result within a minute's time. the tanks were brand new Vivi Nova's, I suggested the Protank as well, and that he probably stop vaping whatever that was cause it's obviously extremely corrosive, he kept the bottle which was like a 30ml size white bottle but he wouldn't tell me where he got it, probably was a failed attempt at home mixing lol, but ended up buying juice from our store. never seen that before happen so quickly

You might want to check out my blog that I linked to earlier in this thread. There is a video at the bottom of a tank cracking in minutes. Here is also an article of interest:

Yes I know & checked out you blog about it. Scary pics. Just thought I'd throw up the list to warn of possible problem flavors

For what it's worth, I find the Kanger T3 to be much more resistant to clouding than the Stardust and Vision type clearos. I bought three Protanks for danger liquids, but so far I'm only using one of them, for my cinnamon which clouded the T3. Other than that, my T3's have held absinthe and licorice varieties, two brands of teaberry, a couple of citrus flavors, and ginger, without the slightest clouding, for quite some time now. I've never had any problem with rootbeer float in any kind of clearo, though rootbeer is always on the tank cracker list. Maybe the "float" ingredients neutralize the cracking potential of the rootbeer.

I have never had a problem with my newer tanks only the older ones, Only problem I have experienced is some juices will melt the plastic drip tip on my clearomizer's. turns the black plastic into a gooey mess.. What I do is every time I get a new Juice, I put a drop or 2 in a styrofoam cup. if it melts the styrofoam after a while. I don't use that Juice in my clearo's. I use them in other devices that are not made of plastic.

Some of the thicker poly tanks are somewhat resistive to acidic E-liquid. The problem is over time it will crack and once it cracks it only gets worse, fast. For this reason I am, mainly, all glass. I have recently switched over to ProTanks and Smok Tech pyrex carto tanks. That's not to say I don't use evods from time to time, I like those evods.
