IIRC the new 510 with upgraded gold contacts and spring is 45 or 50 and the a shave of the drip well to LP is 25.

Standard RM2 on an LP Reo is on the left, on the right is LP RM on LP Reo

Believe me.. you want all that done! No more sanding contacts. Add a drop of detoxit gold to the end of your battery so it will get on the new gold contacts from time to time and your good.

New adjustable Stainless steel 510 connector is awesome e. Be easy to install new contact if needed later and installing new tube is easier as well and no glue needed.

The use of beryllium copper in a metal Reo is to mitigate sparking/arcing from the firing pin hitting the battery. It's used widely in tools in places like oil refineries where a spark, from dropping say a metal wrench, could be dangerous.

The gold - i'm not really sure about, other than it looks good. Silver is the most conductive metal and i'd have thought that to be a more natural choice. I think i'm correct in saying that you can also get the same conductivity from any metal as long as you have enough of it, by which i mean i big block of aluminium will conduct as well as a smaller block of silver.

On a woodvil and indeed on the resin Reos, the question becomes one of what gauge of wire is being used, the fatter the better.

Not a grand but this is a useful thread, Adding Woodvil info for similar question
Just got my woodvil back with gold contacts and it was $25 :D Works fantastic

I've wondered about if any benefits that are added to the Woodvils if the gold contacts are installed. I have one wood without gold contacts and one with the gold spring only. Is it worth it to upgrade these guys? Can you sub ohm at all if you upgrade the Woodvils? Not real low but like .7 or .8.

Thank you for this info! I didn't even know the woods could be upgraded!!!

Yes they new contacts make a difference and .7 or .8 should not be a problem. the contacts have nothing to do with it. It's the on/off and fire switches that are limiting factor. they are rated at 3 amps for the on/off and 5 amps for the fire button, but those are at 12 volts and we only push 4 volts or so.

Here's some test I did with just the new spring and soldering across the on/off to remove it from the path. At lower ohms the differences would be even greater since a higher amp load increases voltage drop,

Hey Linda, I not the measuring incremental differences kinda fella, but I tried replacing the gold on my own and failed at installation, so to the spa it went for the spring and the positive while Rob had it. I never collapsed the spring, just wanted to try soldering the new gold spring in there.
I build .7 to .8 on mine before with no problem and same after, I'm running a 1.0 right now on this woody and it seems as hot as a .85-.9 for whatever that is worth. I am happy with the new contacts and feel it was worth the cost and effort, but science may prove me wrong and I'm okay with that. I'm just happy knowing I have the best possible setup on my woods :D

Silver tarnishes more and faster than gold so the gains are quickly lost :)

My VV Woodville was converted to 3.7v not very long ago. For the last few days, I've been running parallel coils in its rm2 at .8. I'm mildly curious what the horn switch is rated for, but I have noticed that it doesn't get warm like similar switches I've used on other devices, and in fact, it doesn't get warm like the previous switch it had. ... But, at least with my converted unit, the vdrop is a lot more significant than my metal grand (no surprise and I'm not complaining) so it's probably having to handle 4 amps with a .8 ohm coil. It's probably a 5 amp switch.

While silver and copper are more conductive than gold, gold is highly resistant to corrosion, while silver and copper are highly corrosive, that's why a lot of electrical and electronic contacts are gold plated
