Here's an idea...

If they don't want to refill at least save the spent cartomizers. Once they get a bunch of once used cartomizers they could get someone to fill them all at once.

If germs are a concern they could probably be heated or dropped in boiling water without ruining them.

I can certainly see how the older set would find these devices intimidating. Once they've used their PV for a month or two they'll probably be more comfortable with them.

Once comfortable they may be able to change their minds and refill on their own. If not perhaps someone on these forums would buy a big bag of slightly used cartomizers?

Argh! Would anyone buy them?

Slightly disgusting to me, using someone else's used carts even if sterilized. I tend to hold them in my teeth to use both hands at work and home. This leaves teeth marks. They also seem to shrink over time, but I use one for like 3-6 days before it is too loose to seal correctly/tightly (replacing the filler about every 1-2 days depending on shrinkage there also).

The thread poster just wanted some info about cartomizers, because they are for a couple who do not want to drip, drop, fill, and putz with their PVs. I started with a 3-piece (901), and I still use it occasionally. But I love the 2-piece for convenience and ease of use.

Cartomizers are meant to be disposable. Considering that you get a brand new atomizer inside each one, to me the cost is well worth it.

I have used cartomizers from several vendors and without a doubt, those from Vapor4Life and nhaler are the best (in my opinion). Drew's cartos at nhaler.com are cheaper, and they taste great. But my experience has been that the ones from V4L do last quite a bit longer; I think they have more fluid in them, but that's just my guess.

I was a 2-pack/day smoker, and I do vape pretty often. One or 1.5 cartos lasts me all day. I do put on a 2nd one in the evening if I'm vaping really heavily (which I tend to do once I'm done working for the day).

Hope this helps. Really, you can't go wrong with either vendor. Both have excellent customer service, and both offer 10% discounts. For V4L put "SMILIN" in the coupon code box. For nhaler put "Saveinnj" in the coupon code box. Right now V4L is offering 20% off for orders over $200 -- just put "SMILIN20" in the coupon code box.

Well I'm just sharing my thoughts in an effort to help people in a different situation than most of us.

They may not sell them if they have teeth marks but then I don't hold things in my teeth.

Lots of things are re used once washed or sterilized. Dishes, bathrooms and most everything in a doctor's office or hospital.

More practically, they could have a friend refill the cartomizers for them. Doing a whole bunch in a batch would make it worthwhile.

I recently purchased 50 used cartomizers from a forum member. Cleaned them with a nice Everclear soak, same as I do my own, and they work just fine. No teeth marks, glad to say. I don't understand the apprehension about other people's cartomizers; they're hardly likely to be a hotbed of bacteria and virii. 'Course, I also bought used pipes when I smoked 'em, so I guess it's something I'm used to.

When I was in nursing school, the nursing home I did clinicals in had big jars full of isopropyl alcohol that dispensed the glass thermometers (of both types, if you know what I mean). You'd use 'em and put them back into the jar. The medical community seems to think that's perfectly okay, so who am I to argue? (Note: the two types had different end colors and were kept segregated, in case you're wondering.)

Thanks for the advice, guys. I gave the couple the info. They went back and forth on the 510 vs the 808D-1. Finally decided to just go with the 808D-1 after I finally made them realize that I wasn't going to be able to be at their beck and call to help with the 510. I see them 1-2 times a week at the pub; that hardly would be enough when the 510 has an adjustment period.

I gave them Drew's card and either they ordered over the internet with the help of their kids or they called him, can't remember. Anyway, had a voicemail right after that because they were confused on juice. Talked to Drew to find out what they had ordered (I didn't know if they had gone with the 510 or 808D-1 at this time) and he said they got two started kits and some extra cartomizers and once they figured out what carts they liked, to order some more at that time, and to call him if they had any problems.

Refilling cartomizers would be cheaper, but it is not something they want to mess with, at least not at this time. I do like the idea of possible hanging on to the empty ones though and may see if they are interested in that. I could tell them to hang on to them for a while and that if they wanted to attempt to refill them later on they would have the empties. If not, they could just trash them after a while.

We have similar interest in two piece for abut the same reasons...We don't have alot of money so could some one reccomend some good brands/sites.
I've seen the vapor king review and was impressed. Are there similar models that perform as well? I just want to avoid a costly mistake. Thank you.

Brian

Hi, Brian. You say "we" so I assume it would be for both you and your wife?

If your budget is really tight, you do not have to buy a complete kit. I got my niece started with 2 manual batteries, a wall charger, and some cartomizers.

So I think the barebones things you will need are 4 batteries (1 for each of you to use and 1 for each of you to have on the charger), 2 chargers, and some cartomizers (either prefilled or blank). If you get the blank cartomizers, you will need some ejuice to fill them with. If you are completely new to e-cigs, the pre-filled ones are easier. More expensive than filling yourself, but still way cheaper than buying cigarettes.

If you want to go cheaper and have a computer with a USB plug, you can always start with just the USB passthrough (no batteries required). Then I'd recommend getting the car charger that will let you use the passthrough in your car.

Vapor4Life.com sells cartomizers for $12.50/pack of 5, 10% off on every order.
Nhaler.com sells cartomizers for $9.00/pack of 5, 10% off on every order.
CigEasy.com sells cartomizers for $7.95/pack of 5, not sure if Frank still offers a discount or not.

Your choices will probably depend on flavor and strength that you need (in addition to the price).
V4L has around 50 flavors now in strengths from 0mg - 36mg nic levels.
NH has lots of flavors in 16 or 24mg, but he plans to offer more strengths soon.
CE has a lot less flavors, mostly 16 and 24mg.

Battery prices vary as well. I do know that V4L has the 5-pack of manual batteries on sale for either $50 or $55 -- either is a great deal. Most places charge between $14 and $16 each for the batteries.

I suggest you go look at these websites; then you can come back here and ask if you have any specific questions.

Hope this helps. :)

Your mom said not to say...
If you want the best cartomizer cart's around check out the GreenCig ones at Nhaler.com they are compatible with the KR808D-1 and far superior to the KR808D-1 carts in design engineering and performance life at least in the ones I have tried. The GC carts last longer and can be refilled more times before tossing.

I am brand new to this e-cig stuff. In the past couple of weeks of "stocking up," I found that health.com is the least expensive place to order stuff for the KR808D-1, provided you have a large order and time for the shipping. The shipping charge is $15, and it can take a week or two for stuff to arrive here from China.

Anyway, healthcabin has

batteries for 11.50
filled carts for 7.50
30 ml juice for 9.00
chargers for 4.00

I would recommend getting three batteries and two chargers. During the first week, I kept reverting to analogs (granted only one or two a day) while I was "between batteries."
