When you say toned your flavors down you mean using less flavor in a mix? Got any percentages you've been using?

That is correct. I cut the percentages back to 15%~20% max total flavor on most of my mixes (mutilple flavor mixes). I do however have a couple that are up to 25%

See, it seems like I had more success cutting me 15% mixes back to ~7%... different strokes I guess.

Could you give me some examples of your mixes?

I tried almost everything. I got Honey at 5%, Vanillin at 10%, and the EM @ 10 and 20%. It seems crazy to only put .5 ml of flavoring per 10 ml. (if we are working off of the 20 drops = 1 ml rule)

I'm asking myself the same question now. I thought they were good as a standalone.

It may seem crazy, but that is still to much for some flavors. I use TFA honey as an accent in one of my ADVs @ 1% and it is still pretty strong. That's 0.1ml per 10ml. With a 10% EM solution i've never gone over 2%.

I tend to float around that 15% mark as well.
Here is one of my favs. That falls in @13% including the EM.

Twisted Berry

(5.00%) Strawberry Flavor Concentrate (The Flavor Apprentice)
(4.00%) White Chocolate Flavor (The Flavor Apprentice)
(1.00%) Mary Jane Flavor (The Flavor Apprentice)
(1.00%) Honey Flavor Concentrate (The Flavor Apprentice)
(2.00%) 10% Ethyl Maltol Solution

I have used tiny-tiny (could literally count the crystals) amounts of Ethyl Maltol to some fruit flavored juices that I had given up on. It made them much more palatable. Very little is used. Many posts I have read emphasize start very low until you have a feel for what the flavor does (thank you to the people that stress this). Try your PG - VG base (at safe nic levels of course) plain to see the flavor you have, or you are changing.

I just found this site talking about sweeteners. It doesn't look good. Would you guys check it out and let me know what you think?

Starting in 1907, the USDA began investigating saccharin... read results.
Try to find any artificial sweetener that has been "Good". (Some countries still allow saccharin  )
Aspartame ....... prenatal. Just evil.
