hey,
after many attempts to wick with cotton, I think I finally got it............
after hearing everybody say time and time again, less is more.................

they are right!

less is more.... tastes great...... if I have success two or three times in a row,
then it's cotton forever........goodbye silica...

another really good thing about cotton...

you can make one end really small so you can thread it really easily, and then slowly pull through the rest of the wick...
can't do that with silica.... its 1ml all the way, or its 2ml all the way........

I hope I can keep it going....

g

ps........ what a great vape..... like i'm like a little kid......... i'm smiling as i'm writing this,
tons of smoke and taste...it's awesome..........

pps....... wow.........getting more nicotine, more vapour, more taste........
those cotton pushers are soooo right,
still not perfect, but getting there, worth the fight.......

I'm wondering how long cotton lasts in a clearo. Does it have to be changed often enough to where the convenience of silica would trump the flavor benefits some say cotton provides?

depends on the clearomizer you're using I would guess.

I know i had the same cotton wick 30g setup in my Protank2 for the last 2 and a half weeks. Could have kept the cotton that was in there but I ran out of the flavor I was using and wanted to change to something really different without that residual flavor. That took me about an extra 60 seconds while cleaning the tank out btw.

spoke too soon........

seems I just cant duplicate my 'no leak' cotton wick..............
back to silica.... wish I didn't have to, but needed to vape so bad... frustrated.......
on another note........
ive gotten really fast at rebuilding my coils.........
and the ones I build are so much better than the factory coils.....
but then, I've had a lot of bad luck with the factory ones....
one factory coil may be great, another factory coil sucks..... so inconsistent....
wish there was a magic trick to the cotton though......
have tried q-tips and natural cotton yarn(boiled first)

yet another update..........
yes, I did go back to silica......... but the taste just wasn't satisfying........
now that ive tasted the forbidden fruit of cotton, silica is second best..........

here's what I tried... and so far, it's bullet proof.........

opened up the coil unit........... took out the factory piece of silica laying on top of the coil.... replaced it with cotton.....
so I had silica inside the coil, and cotton on top

best of both worlds....... no leak, and better taste.........

I will be mucho happy with that combination until I get adventurous again

later,

g

GOT ADVENTUROUS AGAIN.........sooner than I thought!

...just read on here that there's other guys that can't do the cotton ball thing consistently, and use cotton yarn........

so I made a new coil last night, using cotton yarn........ (had been boiled prior)

used 30 ga kanthal, a 1/16 drill bit..... broke down the yarn into strands..... 4 strands in the yarn.....

put one strand inside the little coil, and 4 strands on top

......doesn't leak, big smoke, ohms on my analog meter look to be around 2.0... wont know more accurate till next week... I have a digital one coming..........

checked next day...... no clogs, still lots of smoke, still better taste than silica, and no leaks or gurgle

this could be it......... finally

guys....... I think we might have a problem with cotton...

ok, so silica is pretty much glass, and doesn't burn except at really high temps..... so basically, all we're tasting is the ejuice

then cotton, why does it taste better?

it has to be that we're getting some cotton in with the vape......

it's only logical, right?

I think it's the taste of cooked cotton i'm attracted to... can't be good......
gonna go back to silica if somebody doesn't come back with a better explanation....

crap
