I've been vaping for about 8 months now and am just starting to replace my own cotton.
I bought "Sterile Cotton Balls" (CVS brand). I didn't think I should have to boil them due to them being "sterile".
Is this true or should I still boil them?

I personally just buy organic cotton balls over amazon.

I wouldn't bother boiling them, but if you're worried about it go for it!

For general information, most sterilization for single use items is performed using exposure to Cobalt-60. Sure heat and chemicals can sterilize, but are not suitable for all materials and especially not for mass-produced, single-use items like cotton balls!
Do you have a recommendation for what I should do?

Boiled mine and it just shrunk into a tighter ball.

Yeah, you gotta boil one or a few, then leave them in a strainer to dry out; and you can store you boiled cotton in like a plastic food container so that dust doesn't collect on it.

I've boiled cotton and stuck it in my kayfun wet(ish); shrug; it's just water.

Mention Koh Gen Do in a vape forum and there is a run at most beauty supply vendors. I have seen it for twelve bucks for 60 pads all over the web but all the online vendors are out of stock.

The vape shops that have it in stock seem to be price gouging. Some are asking at or around a buck a pad plus shipping. That is a large markup.

I just pilfer a few USP cotton balls from my girlfriends stash.

hey JD,i've done it both ways, its not that much different, when i boiled i didnt see any tiny particles floating in the water, which is why some ppl boil it.just to remove forign particles..the only real flavor difference ive noticed is with the japanese cotton vs cvs cotton/walgreens cotton.japanese style isnt clumpy it seems to wick a bit better..they have a ton of u tube vids on this subject if you need more info..but ive done it both ways an it worked fine..the real flavor comes out in the coil building, and the hotter the coil the faster u need to wick the juice so maybe that helps ya a bit..

There are plenty of cotton cosmetic pads that work just like KGD. Several are name brand, long time manufacturers as well as the beauty supply/cosmetic store's generic versions. With most store brands they're made by the name companies and just packaged with store name. It's all about directionally combed for best wicking. All one has to do is look around. $10 got me a 160 name brand pads which equates to about a 2.5 year supply.
