Cotton Taste First Mod

So I just bought my first Mechanical Mod after vaping for almost two years with VV. I have the Stingray X and Stillaire 2 atomizer. The people at my local vape shop setup my first round of vaping which went very well. Really enjoyed the taste, etc. I then go to change out my cotton, goto cvs and get the organic cotton balls. Rip off a few pieces and replace what was there. Here is my issue: Now all I taste is cotton. Literally it just tastes like I'm vaping cotton balls instead of any of the juice that I soak into it. I feel like at some point I wasn't paying attention and did something wrong. Help would be greatly appreciated so that this trend doesn't continue.

Could possibly be using too much cotton. Some people also have success with boiling their cotton first. I get this sometimes...and sometimes I don't. Leads me to believe it is a wicking issue.

I just started dripping about 2 weeks ago with Veritas and PlumeVeil with a rDNA, I was useing organic cotton, and it took about 15 hits before the cotton taste would go away. I was not happy. I looked in my box of supplies and saw a bag of Vapinology platwire with cotton in it. I made a single coil and used the cotton that came with it. My build was .8 on 1/8 drill bit 8 wraps. @ 20 watts, and My first hit was excellent, no cotton taste at all. I dont know if it was the wire or cotton that came with it. But I am one happy camper. No more cotton taste for me.
