cotton vs ekowool ?

hi guys

ive been rebuilding recently on my igo w. people are using cotton nowadays. and i have tried it but i dont seem to get the massive clouds that i was hoping for, and i find that it produces less vapour than ekowool. is this just me ?

i use normal cotton balls, i dont know if they 100% organic and 100% cotton etc...

I don't like ekowool. it actually hurts the back of my throat when nothing else does, after 10 minutes i feel like i've been vaping razor blades. i'm not convinced it doesn't have a hidden ingredient besides normal silica which i never have a problem with.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Russian manufacturer had just found the vaping world as a goldmine to sell a product because they were struggling in other markets. None of what i've just said has any factual evidence behind it - it's just my opinion. Wish I knew why it burns my throat though.

I like stainless steel mesh or normal silica personally.

I have not tried the ekowool yet, and only recently tried 100% cotton, which I like, but I find that I have to re-drip more often. I am interested to also hear more feedback on this topic.

Cotton has kind of spoiled me. I have some ekowool builds, but there just seems to be a bit better taste with cotton.

Price being a big difference Organic Cotton balls big bag of compared to say 1m of ekowool and as others state I'm not fond of ekowool taste.

Boiling it gets rid of that.
And I vape way too hard for cotton. Any wick material that can yield under the temps coils get to is frightening.

How hard are you vaping?

I've had .3 ohm dualcoil builds wicked with cotton. I've had .5 ohm single coil builds with cotton. It's the only wick material I've found that can wick fast enough for high-power chain vaping. My ekowool builds would darken juice/wicks after a night of heavy vaping due to drying out and partially burning juice. Only time that happens with my cotton builds is when I forget to re-drip, and even that is rare because cotton starts tasting foul long before you actually burn your wick/juice

If you are having wicking issues it's probably from too much cotton, too tight, etc. I stayed away from cotton for a long time simply because I was scared it would go up in flames the second I forget to drip, but in my experience its more forgiving than silica, and far far more forgiving than mesh when forgetting to drip.

The key is that your coil should never be getting hot enough to burn cotton when juiced up, if it is something else isn't right.

Function..I prefer ekowool. Ease of building with whatever tool is laying around, cotton. Taste..some taste better with cotton, others ekowool.

Both are good, but I prefer Ekowool on count of I switch flavors often.

Give natural (unbleached) cotton cooking twine a try. You will need to boil it a couple of times but it's well worth the effort.

Igo-w, .3 ohm, organic cotton. Vapor and flavor are incredible!!!

I definitely prefer it over any type of silica.

I have tried cotton, XC116 ceramic, SS mesh, and silica. I prefer the cotton over all of them, it seems to wick/taste much better(IMO).

Organic cotton from CVS. It's my favorite. Not a fan of eko or silica and mesh is just terrible. All IMO.
