Dont get it,i have the Trident set up with organic cotton and i find the Kracken tank with SS cable tastes way better.Ive heard cotton tastes so much better am i missing something.Im vaping my fav,Hangsen RY4.Im getting great vapour from the Trident but its almost tasteless.I just ordered the Kyfun Lite clone and now im afraid it will be a waste of 17 bucks, but i hear the Kyfun has a reduced ''chimney'' so i may like it so i think i should be ok.

They are two different animals. I use mesh in my gennies, and for myself, will not budge on this. Never tried cable, but cable /c a mesh topper is prob a variation on the theme.

I mess around with an Igo-L. I use drug store cotton balls to wick the coils. The vape is really nice. I have used the same juice in the Igo as in my gennies. The gennie just tastes better. I only use the Igo to try new juice.

I prefer the mesh over the cotton, but cotton is cheep, available across the street from my house.

I love Ry4, my vendor is in New Jersey.

Everyone's taste-buds are different, tho :D

A properly setup genesis with SS mesh tastes great! SS rope 95% as good (imho). Problem with them is they are finicky to setup. There is not alot of room for error. Drippers and Kayfun type tanks wicked with cotton have a much greater margin or error and still provide great taste and loads of vapor.

You won't get the same crisp, bright flavor you get from your kraken with a cotton setup dripper. It is just different experience.

I've found my sweet spot to be :

SS rope with a cotton sheath and a 2mm mini coil in my Gennies (aga and RSSTs)
Cotton nano coils in my Kayfun type attys
Silica standard coils in my Taifun
and
Cotton or silica in my Dripper - depending on the juice I'm using.

The SS rope is really easy to maintain, I just torch the rope occasionally dry burn the coil and put some fresh cotton on the rope.

I have to stick with silica in the Taifun as it gets filled exclusively with GVC, doesn't taste right with a cotton wick.

I did some experimenting with ss cable in some of my gennys, a while back, only because a couple pieces came included with my 2 Krakens. I have a few gennys currently set up with it. I use a small piece of mesh just under the coil area. About enough to go around the cable twice. The cable goes down into the tank. It wicks very well. Maybe better than ss mesh alone. I don't torch the cable at all. I just lightly torch the little piece of mesh before I wrap it around the coil end of the cable.

That's exactly the set-up I use but with cotton instead of the mesh. Surprised me how well the cable wicks the first time I tried it.

Personally I find some juices taste better on cotton, and others taste better on mesh.

Mesh seems to be less forgiving to bad flavors. Some juice I love on cotton is more honest on mesh, and I pick up undertones and nuances that I'm not fond of.

But some flavors just pop like nothing else on Mesh, tobaccos definitely seem to be one of them in my experience. Also, back when I was obsessed with Pluid it was definitely a more well rounded flavor on mesh compared to cotton, and it didn't seem to get along well with sillica (flavor wise)

It also seems like some juices/flavors are more prone to loosing/changing flavor when being baked by the heatsink effect of mesh. I have some super tangy mango juice that would taste delicious on a fresh tank, but after a little bit of chain vaping the juice seems to loose a lot of the flavor. Where as with cotton the flavor is strong all the way through.

Seeing that cotton is also more forgiving with setup (although some may debate that) than mesh, it's possible that some people just haven't tasted a well setup genny, although I suspect that not to be the case with most people.

I dont think you really need rope in the Kyfun, plain old mesh should do the trick.

... if only I was better at making crazy bendy mesh wicks... and not so scared of wasting a hole lot of diagonally cut mesh to learn it. Now that you mention it, tho, I do have a bunch of 200-mesh I got for free with an order. Might as well waste that.

Edit: Few minutes later... Oh... wasn't hard at all. Diagonal cut. Crazy bendy wick. Great!
