Thanks to the search function I found a lot information on cotton wicks. I have 2 juice flavors, very light, that I really like but they would just go off flavor after vaping them for a short time. Not burnt - just off. So I thought why not try a cotton flavor wick - all the threads spoke of how cotton improved flavor. Put a cotton flavor wick in some evod bccs and for these flavors it did the trick. The flavors are back in rotation and the evods have the flavor label on them. The first wick I did was too small resulting in flooding but that was an easy fix.

Now I am considering replacing the silica wick in the coil to see if that improves the flavor even more. It doesn't look too difficult. Is there anything I should watch out for or tricks I should know? I assume that when I clean the atomizers I should remove the cotton before dry burning the coil then put in new cotton - correct? I am not into rebuilding coils - yet - I have about a dozen atomizers that I rotate between in use and cleaning and after several months all are still working fine. How long can these things last?

Also, I have some Iclear 16s - a few flavors I prefer the warmer vape. I don't have any problems with the flavors I have in those. But can those long wicks also be replaced with cotton? It's hard to imagine rolling a wick that long or can you buy pre-done cotton wick?

Thanks for all the information and insight. So much more to learn. So much information here.

for anyone with bottom coils/heads (kanger protanks) i have been making some good progress converting from silica to s.s. 400 mesh following youtube videos. the fruit flavors are not quite as strong but no more burnt taste (or burning the cotton/silica from sucking too hard) or that nasty silica taste when priming a new head.
winding coils is only hard at first, i am finally learning they don't need to be wrapped super tight.
