Cotton wicks irritating throat?

First if this isnt the right forum for this topic mod's please move it.
I got my first mechanical mod this last weekend and a Kraken genesis style rba. For the most part I'm loving it with the exception when vaping I get an irritated throat and the flavor of the ejuice isnt the same as from my Kanger aerotank.
I'm using cotton for wick material. I've tried organic cotton balls, and cotton yarn. I'm pretty sure it's not burning cotton as its not burnt and the ejuice in the tank goes down as I vape.
All my juice is 12mg nic, and the coil in my Kraken is 1.6Ohm.
I've also noticed if I drink alot when vaping my throat irritation is almost non existent.
Whats going on here? Do I maybe need to try 6mg nic with the rba? its very similar to the irritation I was getting when I first started vaping and tried 24-18mg nic.

Go to RBA forums. And for future use, go for CVS Sterile Rolled Cotton in the first aid section. Enough to last a lifetime and tastes great.

Happened to me when I first swicthed to cotton also. Now it is gone and I don't see myself going to any other wicking material. Not sure what the problem was at first. I would suggest to make sure the cotton is always soaked in juice. I also use organic cotton. At first I used regular 100% cotton. Maybe that was the problem.

Sometimes on rbas and rdas you are 1) getting a higher volume of vapor at a higher temp without 2) the effect of a chimney conditioning and cooling the vape.
