I'm about to start building my own coils soon, everything is ordered apart from the wick, what do you use and where do you get it and how do you treat it.
Ive read cotton wool wicks better but it must be organic and must be boiled first is this right? I've just been in town and nobody sells organic just pure cotton wool.

Another method what a lot of other people use is the cotton pads. ( what women use to remove make up ) you can buy these from any good chemist, and just cut into strips to suit the size of your coil. Just get the sterile ones if you can.

You don`t need to boil these either.

Thanks Terry, so just look for sterile not organic, is that what your saying.

Thanks Terry, I'll send her indoors down the town next week for a look.

No problem mate, you could also consider using rayon wicks. I have been using it for a few months now after a mate on the fasttech thread sent me some. It really is a fantastic vape, and you will never get a dry hit as it wicks so well.

There is a couple of you tube vids showing how to install it, and once you have cracked it you will wonder what all the fuss was about with cotton. :) Have a go with cotton first, and if you wish to go further, try rayon, it is available to buy off e-bay.

I use to use cotton balls but since a wonderful man sent me cellucotton and Koh Gen Doh, that is all I will ever use. Lots of YouTube videos on both. I was not unhappy with sterile cotton but for me these wick easier, have no funny initial taste and I feel like it saturates better. Just my 3¢ (inflation) Good luck to you.

I believe cellucotton is what we call rayon, but i could be wrong. :) I have never heard of the other one though.

So it's rayon, sterile or organic cotton I need. Will boots boots be the best high street shop or is gonna be a web shopping only thing?
As far as i`m aware you can only get rayon online dave. To be honest with you, start with cotton as there isn`t a massive difference with the rayon, just wicks a lot better. That also has a downside as it means you have to clean your coils more frequently. I have started moving back to cotton now because of this issue.
I picked up a bag of organic cotton balls from ASDA, not had an issue. I reckon the bag will do me about 5 years plus....

Organic and unbleached, had zero issues so far and walked away a quid lighter. Can't complain...

Unless I'm using the wrong stuff, in which case -sigh-

:)
No you aren`t using the wrong stuff at all, and that was a good find. There you go dave, off to asda for you.

Careful when choosing cotton or Rayon. If you go with cotton make sure it says 100% cotton and does not contain synthetic fibers. If you do Rayon make sure it is not reinforced with polyester. Most folks are using Rayon from a company called Graham and the product is Cellucotton Rayon. Graham also has a product called Cellucotton Cotton so carefully read the labeling. Graham also has a reinforced Cellucotton Rayon DO NOT USE it.
