Is there any current or future technology which could allow a long lasting mini?

Yeah that is just where the trouble starts. Easy enough to be switching to fresh batteries pesky to be refilling all day long.Yes. But you will still be refilling that 0.5 ml cartomizer every twenty minutes or so.
I agree with the other posters that current battery technology simply won't allow a mini that will give all day runtimes. But I also believe that it may not be the entire answer to the problem. Heating coils don't heat up or cool down instanteously so a circuit that would allow pulsing the electrical current could decrease current draw and still give the same end result. Unfortunately I don't have the electronics background to design such a circuit, but perhaps we'll see it in the near future.
Every Cig-a-like and eGo type use a LiPo battery. Also every cell phone, tablet, and e-reader uses LiPo. For the most part, the most dangerous thing about a battery is the user. In the "envelope pushing" world of RC, it is no surprise that they get a bad rap. But it's mostly due to the high stress and abuse that they are subject to.very few ecig mods make use of lipo batterys they have a more compact design with higher capacity but the downside is they are alot more volatile and have a higher risk of venting/exploding, they are primarily used in RC cars/plains and heli's and while i have thought of trying one in a mod i have had one burn up in a rc car and all i can say is i would NOT want that to happen in my pocket or in my face lol.
hopefully they will be able to find a safer high strength and capacity rechargeable cell here soon but as far as i know there is nothing new coming anytime soon.
This is already in play with all of the "Pulse Width Modulation" mods.
