I have been cigarette free for about 3 weeks. In this past week I have had an over abundance of mouth ulcers. One in particular is on my Uvula and it hurts like HELL! It happens to hurt worse when I vap. I have read that some people have allergic reactions to either PG or VG and Im wondering if I might be allergic as well. I have never in my life had so many mouth ulcers at once. I have not changed my diet at all, just quit smoking. I am also experiencing swollen tonsils and it feels like I always need to pop my ears like my ear canal is swollen or clogged. I'm not sure if theses are symptoms of allergic reactions to PG/VG or if something else is happening to me . Anyhow Im looking to see if anyone else has had the same issues and maybe shed some light on helping me with this if its ejuice related. Thanks ECF

My dad has a horrific reaction to E-Liquid, yet I have never had a problem. We know it's the e-liquid because it only happens during his vaping stints. It's much like the ulcers mentioned in other comments. I work at an electronic cigarette shop and we've had a few customers with similar complaints.

Finally (after much trial and error) we discovered many have a sensitivity to [PG]. Try lowering your [PG] ratio and going with a 50/50 or 100/0 [VG] blend and see if that helps. It worked for my old man.

When I first try e-juice, I feel sick and want to vomit, but just for a while, I get use to it, I use non nic juice as I am a non-smoker,If you have no other health issue, it is ok to try e-juice

Why??????????

Now to the OP. Mouth Ulcers are often a sign of allergic reaction. You can have an allergic reaction to the base liquid (PG/VG) OR the flavors/additional stuff in there. Mucous membranes (like that found in your mouth, throat) are highly sensitive....so it is absolutely possible you are allergice to either the flavors or the type of liquid being used. Sadly the only way to find this out is to try it. My wife for example cannot use backwoods brew tobac. flavs....she loves one of them, but it caused a similar reaction in her mouth/throat. She now, exclusively, uses Awesomevapors "desert tobacco". I try to get her to branch out as I'm the researcher of the pair. She likes the desert tobacco and sees no reason to try anything else. She's been vaping it exclusively for a cpl yrs (it was called Camel before).

Another noteworthy bit, if you can, avoid irritants in your mouth for a few days while the sores heal (Incl. smoking and vaping). then try a new flavor, in a new atty/carto/clearo (whichever u use). FWIW best OTC med for allergic reactions is Benedryl (diphenhydramine HCL). f/u with your physician. read the box, and do as it says.

I'm not saying you are 100% with out a doubt having an allergic reaction, as only your physician could venture to guess on that. But it is possible, and it would not be wise to keep on the same flavor/type while you wait and see if it's a "normal quitting smoking thing" or an "allergic reaction thing". Rule out the Allergic reaction by eliminating it from your "diet", allow yourself to heal, and try again.

Tasty, I can totally relate. My first few months of vaping, I was using a very high PG juice, and got tons of canker sores (mouth ulcers). I switched to 50-50 and they have not been back. Also, if you are using a delivery system where juice is making any contact with your mouth, this can cause the sores as well. I went from top coil clearos (CE4) and mini vivi novas to the mt3 and evod bottom coils and that seems to work really well.

Good luck, the health benefits of being off cigarettes makes up for a little mouth ulcer issue, even though they sting! (try taking a few advil for the sting)

I had same simtoms few weeks back. I went to doctor and the verdict was strep throat. After 10 days of antibiotics I'm okay.
Also helped to reduce nic level. I used to vape 12% and now 6-7%. I'll do all my juices.

I too need to ask WHY? Why do this if you sdont have the addiction to begin with. Im not judging or being critical as I believe every has a right to their own decisions, but im more curious to know why you would do this if you didnt feel like you had no other choice...

Going on a month here with no problems.........UNTIL TODAY!

Seems a reaction to a particular juice: "metal" taste in the mouth (felt like there was a coating inside my mouth with a light menthol taste as well), somewhat dizzy, then a swelling of the sinuses on either side of my nose. I think a definite allergic reaction.

Sound familiar to any of you? Advice please?

I had the same issues as you my friend. This might sound funny but I SWEAR it works. Pull out the old humidifier and keep yourself really hydrated. PG and VG had some side effects on me for the 1st month or so. sensitive gums, dry throat, mouth pain etc. I don't get any of that anymore after about 2 years of vaping. Hope this helps;)
