Hi all,

Normally it is my nature to do ridiculous amounts of research before making a purchase but I am in kind of a bind here. I very recently received a job offer from my older brother and I am super short on time. The catch is I will be moving in with him for 6 months or so until I save up enough for a place, and he is about as anti cigarette smoke as you can get. Anyway, I was wondering if you could forgive my lack of research and give me some advice?

Anyway, here is some information. I am not sure how much of this will be helpful, but I figure I might as well post it.

1. This is not my first E-CIG. Awhile back I purchased a 510 starter kit and used it for awhile, but it didn't work out. I would vape and vape and still have an urge for a cigarette. Upon further review, I believe the issue was probably using too little strength cartridges, but I also could have used a bit more of a hit. However, I didn't "hate" it. I didn't mind using it at all.

2. I prefer manually pushing the button.

3. I smoke about a pack of marlboro red 100s a day.

4. Size really isn't an issue. I don't mind having something larger than an actual cigarette, but I would prefer not to get something completely ridiculous that would get me suspicious looks all of the time haha.

5. I could see myself eventually getting into doing the liquid thing on my own, but to start I think i'd prefer something where I could get cartridges.

Again, I apologize for the "omg tell me what to do" nature of this post, but like I said I'm kind of in a time crunch here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to ECF!

There are quite a few options available that would work for you. Here are some of them, and I'm sure others will come along and post some as well.

Elite Vaporworks KGO Starter Kit with Boge LR Cartomizers - KGO

New Design Epower 18650 Electronic Cigarette by SMOKTech

Joye eGo-C Twist Variable Voltage 1000mAh Battery

The eGo Twist is the only one that dosen't come in a starter kit, so you'll need to be sure to get two batteries, and a charger.

As far as getting cartridges, are you talking about prefilled cartomizers? or are you talking about getting atomizers and cartridges and filling your own cartridges?

If I was you I would get a Kgo kit, this one right here actually- KGO kit1100mAh by SLB.

Then I would buy 2 Twist batteries too. Just the batteries cuz you will already own a charger from that kit.

Do that and you will have a couple REALLY long lasting batteries for when you leave the house plus a couple VV shorter lived batteries for at home.

The whole purchase will be about 85 bucks not including liquids and cartomizers.

I second the eGo C Twist. We've had it out of the package for 24 hours and it is so easy to setup. We're also using a stardust cartomizer and filling with juice. 1.5 ml lasts my fiancé about a day and he was a heavy pack a day smoker with Marlboro reds. We've already to purchased a 2nd battery which is on the way. We got the battery pretty cheap from Altsmoke along with the USB charger, wall charger and juice with a couple of cartomizers for about $55 to start up. In Chicago, that's 5 packs of analogs.

Get yourself a couple Ego Twists.. 1000mah are about the size of a cigar and last all day. They're cheap, less than $30 each and they're variable voltage so you can crank it up or down, depending on what you like. Stardusts are good, you can fill one up and it will last for hours and they're super easy to refill. I use DCTs (dual coil tanks) with prepunched cartos. I prefer them to stardusts, but that's just my opinion.
Joye ego-c twist Manual Switch Battery
SMOKtech DCT Tank - 3.5ml 1.5ohm Dual Coil Acrylic Tank - CLEAR [gv-smoktechDCT-TANK-3.5ml-CLEAR] - $11.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more
GotVapes VISION Replaceable Stardust 1.6ml With Twist-On 2.8ohm [gv-RebuildableSTARDUST-1.6ml-2.8] - $7.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more
You'll need juice too... if you want a good juice that really, really tastes like your Marbs..
Gandalf (Purity) - $5.00 : Heathers Heavenly Vapes, Top Quality Custom E-Liquids
I'd recommend starting at 24mg,, you need the higher nic content to get over those cravings you still get in the beginning.

You'll get lots of recommendations, but I've been at this for 7 months, spent a ton of money and this is the perfect set up for me. Good luck to you!! Really, if I can do it, anybody can!

So I'm looking at the Ego Twist 1000mah since a few people recommended it and I'm a little confused.

A good set up would be?

2 of the batteries
A wall charger
A usb charger

and what else haha? I'm a little confused on the cartridges. With the 510 I just had these little cartridges that looked like the .... of a an actual cigarette that I screwed on the back. Is that similar to what you are using 'luvinit'?

I'd say get 2 batteries. I have the 650 since it's about an inch shorter, a wall charger so your USB charger doesn't take so long to charge. As for cartomizers start out with the Stardust for about $3.75 off Altsmoke. Very easy and user friendly if you're not ready to start threading your own part. Maybe after I've watched a few more videos on how to change out parts on a tank I might venture out that way.

The ego twist has 510 threading so anything with 510 threads will work. These links aren't from me, I am swiping them from a post by John D in CT, he really knows his stuff when it comes to the twist, so I hope he doesn't mind me borrowing as it is the twist you are looking at getting:
Links:

Joyetech eGo-C Twist: Joye eGo-C Twist Variable Voltage 650mAh Battery (MyVaporStore)

Yes,, at least 2 batteries, usb charger and wall charger. The cartos are cartomizers, not cartridges.. there's a difference. And I agree... John D in CT is VERY knowledgable about this stuff. He helped me a lot when I started out.

Stardusts are easy, there's no filler in them, you just fill them up and vape. I find the flavors a bit muted in them, but that's just me. I prefer the tanks, with cartomizers that DO have filler in them. You prime the cartomizer with 30 or so drops of liquid, slide the carto into the tank, fill up the tank, give a couple pulls without hitting the button (just to draw liquid into the carto) and vape away. One 3.5ml tank will last me most of a day (I vape a lot!) All good suggestions here..

I got two 1000 ego twist and love them but if I was you would get a 650 and the 1000 to try out (its cheap) the 1000's are a touch long for starting out, do not get me wrong the larger ones are really nice but not as pocket friendly or knock over when not paying attention. Its a great pv for the price.

When people talk about cartos, those are the bit that you screw on the battery that would be like the .... end of a stinky. Just starting out, I would recommend either Boge 510 cartos or Smoktech dual coil ones. I wouldn't recommend a tank like a Stardust or Vivi Nova to start, simply because it's going to take experimentation to find the right juice (flavor and nic strength) that's right for you. Tanks aren't great if you're frequently switching up flavors or nic strength. Cartos are ideal for that.

I too would recommend an Ego. There's lot's of stuff out there but after 2 years I'm still using and still happy with an Ego. Whatever you go with 2 batteries minimum are a must. Chargers die - get 2 of those too. In other words get backups for everything. After trying and using a bunch of cartos I'm currently using Smoktech dual coil cartos. They perform well for me and are pretty user friendly. Good luck however you choose to go!
