So I couldn't sleep last night for an unrelated reason.
My old 5v box mod had died. The tact switch would get stuck closed and the box broke trying to pull it out.

So hence my new POTO (Part on the outside) mod.

Was planning on tube feeding it as you can probably tell. Just haven't added it yet.

I like it the way it is. I often have eccentric tastes.
You could easily make a wooden box for it. Just cut holes for the switch and atty connector. Make them U if you want to slide it in.

I am loving the size of it in my hand right now. You could try something similar to what puck did and place 2 AA boxes back to back.

Still haven't found a cover I like. Not that I'm looking that hard.

I should add that no epoxy or adhesives were used at all. everything is press fit.
The plastic holds up well to heat.
It is starting to warp a little from having batteries only on one side. The top is a little slanted away from the batteries. Debating what to do about that.

on the plexi glass idea, make a full rectangle box with a hinge...it'd be kool looking and just make a whole in the top for atty to go in but make it so when you open up the box the whole casing comes off... probly get that stuff at home depot...or here
