My wife and I are quitting smoking. About 3 days in right now. My wife would like to purchase an e-cig to aid her in the association/psychological part of quitting. Mainly she doesn't want to slip while having a glass of wine. She would much rather have an e-cig around and be able to enjoy a couple glasses of wine than have to give up both. My first question, after poking around the internet, is the safety of inhaling water vapor. I imagine it has to be better than a cigarette, but have seen many articles questioning the long term effects of e-cigs since they are relatively new. As well, they have stated sudies showing obstruction of airways within 5 minutes of use. I am aware you can't believe everything you read on the internet, so was interested in hearing some actual e-cigarette users views.

In an attempt not to write a book and include too much in one thread, I'll post my equipment question separate.

I've been vaping for three and a half months now and feel so much better. I can walk without wheezing and go to sleep without hacking. Yes, vaping is relatively new but if I just go by what I feel it is much better than cigarettes.
Welcome to ECF and others with more experience will be here soon!

There are subforums here for health, medicine and research to get you more informed. There was one study about blocking airways, but I think it's been pretty much discredited. There is a lot of information out there propagated by the anti-tobacco groups that seem willing to say anything to further their agenda.

Another good resource is CASAA: CASAA | The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-Free Alternatives Association
