Couple Quick Questions from a New Member

Hello ECF!
I've vaped on and off for about a year now and finally decided to go all the way and buy proper vape setup. As it is very confusing market for someone who is new, I used ECF as a tool to make my first purchase.
Needless to say, I am extremely happy with my setup and decided to register!
Just had a couple quick questions about vaping in general.
Firstly, I have a the Joyetech C Twist 650 battery using an Innokin iClear 16 clearomizer with 18mg eJuice.

Does anyone use those clearomizers? I'm afraid that if I keep my setup in anything but the upright position, I will spill liquid all over the place..

Also, recently on my inhales I have started hearing a "popping" and "crackling" sound coming from my PV. Is this normal? Taste and vapor have not been compromised.

Lastly, are there any suggestions that I could begin to look at to upgrade my setup?

Thanks in advance :)

This is my day-to-day setup. (Bigger battery, but the same)

Popping/crackling is normal.

Your iClear won't leak unless the drip tip (the screw in bit) doesn't "mate" with the top of the atomizer.

That's a topcoil; and it has a plastic/silicone cap above the atomizer to reduce leaking if upside down, but it will probably leak slowly if left upside down .

Yes popping crackling sound is normal. Its the sound of the thin film of liquid sizzling on the surface of hot metal.

Upgrade:
1: Glass tank; since you have a topcoil already, then the pyrex vivi nova;
2: VW; for example, iTaste VV V3 or MVP2

Thank you, djsvapour. Appreciate the quick response. :)

By the "drip tip" you mean the mouth piece, correct? The piece that screws in on the top and meets the white rubber topper over the wicks?

Yes! edyle is on the case :)

I use my eGo batteries (variable power) for work (which is 80% of the time during the week). I would say an "upgrade" would be to look at the current crop of medium sized clearomisers on the market. Evod, T3S, mini Protank, Mini Nova. I'm not sure I would call them necessarily better. I've used them all over the last 18 months and am using iClear16 by choice at the moment.
None of them are perfect. The vape from the T3S is good, but they don't last long for me...the coils get bad in a week. Same for the mini Protank. I get a month from an iClear16...hence my loyalty.

Keep your setup verticle by standing it inside a coffee cup or water glass.

Ooo,, a whole month? That's good; you use high nic? Like 24mg?

No. Mostly on 12 these days (was on 18). Do you think it could be something to do with it.

I was thinking with higher nic kind of overides things like a bit of burning or muting of flavor, so that way you end up using a coil for a longer time someone using low nic.

Leakage sucks!! When I first started I used Vivi Novas which are a top coil tank like your I-clear. I tried many brands and in time they all leak down the center post and you get that gurgling. Gurgling sucks too!! I have tried bottom coil tanks like the Kanger EVOD and they do better but can still gurgle with age ( say 2 weeks ) I'm now trying cartamizers and they seem to be better but are much more difficult to fill.

They short of it is, if your tank is leaking or gurgling when you draw, somethings wrong and I wold replace it. Some cheap tanks will do it from day one. Sometimes all the components are screwed together tight.:toast:

Thank you all for your input; it has been very helpful. Just got back from my local vape shop and picked up a Mini Protank II. I'm exhaling PLUMES of vapor. So far I'm loving it. I'm just hoping the life on the atomized is acceptable.. Anyone a fan of the Mini Protank II?

I was just looking at a mini Protank 2 on a website and liking the look. Kanger makes good tanks. I want a tank that would look good on my epipe. I think I'm still leaning toward the Aspire BCC Maxi though. Price is cheaper. I have one and it vapes good on the pipe. Also I liked the squared off top where the drip tip connects.
