covering holes overheat atty?

ive seen ppl talk about covering sum of the holes on the unit to get a more intense vape hit, anyone think that might overheat the unit, like the amount or size of the air intake holes are designed to ensure a certain temperature for the atty, i haven't covered the holes on my unit because i enjoy the hit i get the way it is, but i was curious if anyone has had issues regarding this matter..

Obviously one wouldnt overdo it. The main reason people do it to make the inhale not too easy. On older models like the 901 it can be a good idea if thats what you want. Newer models may already run hot.

If get a burnt taste, ease up.

Will make little difference to the lifetime. That's mostly pot-luck; 1 hour to 1 month or more if you're really lucky.

i just ordered a 510 joye, and have no idea what to expect of the vape hit, but im not to worried about it, as long as it works well enough to keep me off analogs il be happy, the xhale02 unit ive been using works great, but around 10 days of use is all the atty can take, any info on how long the 510 atty's last besides the vague 2-6week expectancy listed on most supplier sites?

yea i plan on taking very good care of the attys i get with the 510, i just hope they last longer than the xhale02 units, the biggest issue i had with the xhale02 was not having replacement attys for sale at the store i bought the unit at, because if the one atty it comes with dies my only options are to buy a new starter kit or a pack of analogs, im on my 3rd starter kit of xhale and i ordered the 510 today, so im hopeful for things to become a little more cost friendly, il prolly order more attys and juice before the attys the 510 starter kit comes with break down, and il have a better idea of how long to expect them to last

Yup, that is one of the two big flaws with those gas station kits.

Once nice part of the Riva/eGo type models, besides the obvious improvement in battery life, is that the cone covers the air ports over the atomizer. The draw difference with the cone on versus the cone off is much improved if you don't like the loose/airy draw.

No one can really tell you how long an atty will last. Some only last a couple of weeks, but some people have attys that have lasted for months. I still have 5 of the 6 original attys that I bought back in September of last year. I killed the one myself with a botched de-bridging attempt. Just take care of them, even if it's just blowing them out once a day. I soak mine in 91% Isopropyl Alcohol once a week or so and let them dry overnight. I also use them in rotation so they get equal use. I think doing these things make them last longer, but this is just my opinion. Some people just blow them out and don't clean them unless they get really gunked up and they still last for months.

On the other hand I have a 510 and drilled out the two holes a bit. The restrictive bit however seems to be the workings ie mesh, coil, wick, cup, etc etc sat against the floor of the case on top of the battery connector. As drilling it made little difference apart from leaking more juce when sat around.

I am new here. I have a problem inhaling too easy compare to analog. I thought about plugging the holes to get more resistance. Is that cartomizer resistance make a difference on this too?

thats what ive been gathering, that atty life is based on personal experience and different for everyone, i have been reading up and watching YT vids of the cleaning processes users have posted and im excited to start cleaning my attys before i even get my 510 starter kit in the mail, i almost feel more excited to clean the atty's as opposed to actually vape with them lol
in an attempt to get the most life out of an atty, using these cheap $20 e-cigs from 7-11 are good, but i feel like theres nothing i can do to prolong the atty life of them, so im excited to get my 510 starter kit and really start vaping long term, the unit i have from 7-11 is an auto but it is a nice compact size and i can hold it in my mouth hands free and it works fine, i acually enjoy the hands free, im typing and vaping right now, but im sure il adapt to the manual no prob

You can try with just your fingers first.

I am sure most of you know that new attys have a packing fluid in them to stop them getting grubby before you use then.

It tastes like a pigs bottom if you vape it and needs to be removed before use. I take a big mouthfull of hot water and blow it into the mouth end of the atty, two or three times is good and then blow out any remaining water. You can put it in a warm place to dry some more but I don't bother. Prime with a good few drops as it is now empty and off you go. The first taste might be a little harsh any remaining packing fluid will soon be gone and water to. I cigar puff the first toke or two. A day or two on and the atty will be bedded in and working fine keep it wet or it will not last to long. I had one that died in a day the others I have been fine..
