Well I picked up a VV Woodvil in the classies the other day and was really excited, but unfortunately it arrived with a large crack in the bottom which makes the door so loose that if you slide the door down it falls right off. Can this be fixed if will it never be the same? I'm worried mostly because it's right where the bottom spring is attached and puts pressure on the area, which is what I think caused the crack. Looks like it's been there awhile, but I don't think doots has used it for awhile. It was sent packaged very well and there is not any scuffs that look like it was dropped so I believe it probably was just from the pressure of the batteries on the spring and not enough feed & wax over time. He's willing to give me my money back, but I wanted to ask the collective group if you think it can be fixed to be functionally good or will any repair eventually just fail because it's in an area that receives pressure from the batteries & spring?
The good news is that I tested it and the VV Chip, button and switch still all work with a voltage meter and some carefully placed batteries. So if the crack can be epoxied back together or something done that will fix it permanently, it will still be a good VV Woodvil. I just don't know enough about woodworking to know if it's not that big of a deal and nothing a bit of wood glue couldn't fix or if it's better to just get my money back because this is going to be nothing but a problem VV Woodvil from now on.
I'll PM Rob also to see if he can fix it.
