I am getting these odd cravings today. I started less than a week ago, and got my kit and several sizes of different juices. Being an (almost ex) heavy smoker and really heavy vaper I am all out of "tobaccy" juices, and I don't know if it is that I miss them or miss analogs, but I feel the urge to lite up a cigarette every now and then (5 a day now, vs 40 or 50), the thing is, they don't satisfy me either, they don't feel right.

Am I craving the "fake tobacco" taste of e-juice? It's not the nicotine, because the flavours I ran out of were actually lighter on nicotine than the less traditional flavors I am using now. I believe they are all Dekang: coffee, vanilla, brandy, etc.

This is driving me nuts, really want something, but I cannot figure out what it is. I placed an order for some 36mg juice just in case.

Any ideas if this is e-cig related or it's just me going mad?

It's all in your head. When you do smoke a cigarette it doesn't equal what you think it is you're craving. A good long vape is more satisfying. I used to smoke light cigarettes and my current habit is to vape 12mg, but I usually vape for 2-3 times as long as it would take me to smoke a cigarette. Also the move nicotine you get the more you crave. So, try to match your old smoking habit as much as possible. If you used to smoke and wait 30-60 minutes, do that. If you vape constantly it's just going to have the nicotine flowing through your system and you'll want more. The craving doesn't really go away. I went about two hours without vaping (went out to dinner and such after work). I didn't really have a craving. When I got home, I wasn't desperate for a vape. However once you start vaping you get that anxious feeling as it goes through your system.

Dekang coffee and vanilla are good stuff. Didn't care much for the Brandy. Try a sample bottle of Winston next time. It's the real deal. Just a straight tobacco taste without any fanfare. Very satisfying. When I vape it I feel like I'm cheating. :)

Thanks for your comments.

As many other people have stated on the forum, my initial intention was not to quit smoking altogether but to cut down a bit, but vaping has been so effective in this that now I want to get to the point where I am disgusted with analogs, from there things should get easier.

Pistolpete is right, I was smoking so much that I was embarrassed to hold my girls (1 and 3) because my clothes always reeked of cigarette smoke. I don't want my daughters to smoke, hell, i don't want the to vape, at least not to vape nicotine or any other addictive substance, I don't want them to use devices that look like cigarettes. And I want to be healthy enough to watch them grow up.

Thanks Prof. Daffy for your tips, and by the way, I like your new avatar. I will have to check with the local (Uruguayan) suppliers to see if they carry Winston, if they don't (and I don't think they do) I might be placing an order to get some flavors from China that are not available here.

I will also be getting a 510 kit and parts, including a USB passthrough; a Bartleby and a pipe for use in public. I think I am too heavy a vaper for my 901s, in hindsight it seems I would have been better off starting with penstyle e-cigs or just foregoing regular batteries and going for a mod with an 801 atty.

Thanks for your comments guys, a great thing about this forum, especially this section, the E-Cigs In Public and Campaigning section is that they can sometimes act as a support group to help quitting analogs, these are uncharted waters we are treading.

I believe in damage control, but I have found both online and Away From Keyboard that people (both smokers and nonsmokers) take an all or nothing approach, you are either using nicotine and will die a horrible death any day now or you quit nicotine altogether (and if you fail to do that it's because you don't value your own life. It's a relief to come here and read (lurk) and see how vaping can change people's lives for the better.

In a month or so I will be spending two weeks in Brazil where vaping has been outlawed, in no small part because of the FDA's "findings". Brazil is where I smoked analogs for the first time too. Wish me luck.

Sorry for the rant but I wanted to get this out of my system and this seemed as good a place as any other.

There's a lot of ways to go and it sounds like you're off to a great start. Some people go all or nothing, but the biggest selling point is cigarettes are that great. They never were. We just never had an alternative.

It's very stressfull when you feel bad everytime you waste money on cigarettes. When you can't even stand the smell of your own hands and soap won't get the smell out. I've tried a few alternatives and they don't work. You have to see "smoke" and you really have to reproduce what it is you love about smoking to make the switch. If you loose all the bad things as a trade off... even better!

P.S. Thanks. I made about 5 new avatars I might alternate. Too bad I still love my original one the best!

Hi, xybe. You might check out this tread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/nicotine/44958-so-we-getting-we-not-nicotine.html . It's a long one and a few things could be skipped over, but it might give you an answer in the end. The ecig hits the nic spot ok, but doesn't fill the void. Dvap and a few others have figured out why and tests are ongoing. It might take a while to get through, but as you go through it you'll see others like yourself, read how things were analyzed and determinations reached. At this point a true liquid analog is being tested and, so far, seems to be the missing link, basically, the full effect of smoke without the smoke nasties. Revolutiionary, if it makes it to the manufacturing process. :)
