Just depends on what you like. You can only twist it so far before it will break. The one I tried seeing how much twist I could put into it was pretty good, but it did not like to heat up very quickly. I use a shepherd's hook woodworking/shop probe. Fold the wire in half, flame it, pinch the ends with a needlenose or vicegrip & spin the shepherd's hook on the looped end. It goes pretty quick.

The wick, wire, ohms and watts vaped at all affect the taste of the vape. Have been playing with the Magic Mundy wire, and slapped a vertical dual series build in the Russian yesterday, and couldn't believe the crispness and accent of the flavor development that the twisty wisty wire produced. It was basically the same build but with twisted triple strand ribbon instead of 28 awg Kanthal. A lot more flavor in comparison, and my previous build, same style different wire, was the best I've come up with for the Russian. Add to that, now I am vaping the Russian at 20 watts on the Beast Box VV, instead of the 15 watts max that the Provari can provide. Everything impacts the taste of the vape.

Yes, I did my own coils and wicks with organic cotton on my Protanks also. The flavor I got was horribly muted in comparison to the Russian 91%. I think its due to the setup of the atomization chamber on the R91, but the flavor just absolutely jumps out of the juice!!! Its definately worth a try if you can build micro coils.

Honestly Im not sure, but I get my organic cotton balls from CVS. Ive never personally boiled mine at all, I just unroll, pull what I need, trim, and wick. Ive never had any odd taste or after effect from this method.

I have boiled my organic 100% pure cotton, whitened with hydrogen Peroxide, three times and there was no smell during boiling or residue in the water or the pan I used when finished. I won't bother boiling again, not worth it in my opinion. Depends on the cotton you get I guess. I saw PBusardo's video on boiling and all the foam during his boiling and what he described as smell from the boiling cotton, but I got none of that. I'm glad I did it just to know that I don't really need to do it again with this cotton, but that's what I found.

I also found the flavors much more intense and different on my Russian than on my iClear clearos. Very crisp flavor that you could really taste the nuances of the juice. Some of the juices I liked on the iclears tasted like dog rockets on the Russian. I really needed strong flavors to make it through the iClears and I find what I thought were much milder flavor are really stellar on the Russian. I can't help but believe this is what the juices are supposed to taste like.
