Hey guys. Just got some creme brulee from a member here. Popped it into my mini protank2, and onto my Evod VV, set to 3.6. The tank has a coil in it with a 2.2 ohm rating, I don't have an ohm reader to make sure that's right but it's what it says on the package. All I'm getting is a very very heavy caramel flavor that's really not appetizing. Is it my set up or do I need to let it rest some more?

I know that with my protanks, they tend to mute out some flavors.
I also have Crème Brulee and the caramel is not overwhelming at all. It may be a combination of the two factors. I would let it steep for a while longer and see what your results are. If it still doesn't taste right then it is definitely the tank.
I stopped using protanks because I had too many issues with them (flavor, flooding, coils only lasted a day or so) and I switched back to cartotanks. Crème Brulee is AMAZING in a cartotank!!!

Good luck!!

ps: I saw your other post about ordering Frenilla- You are going to be blown away!!!! I have never tasted an e juice that is so good. And I have tried a lot!!!!!

Whats the date on the juice? Doesn't sound right unless maybe it needs to steep some more.

I've no idea. I got it as a giveaway for joining CASAA so it came in an unmarked bottle. I'm going to let it steep for a few weeks and see if that changes.

Amberina, what cartotank do you use? I know I need to upgrade my equipment to fully enjoy the flavors, unfortunately cash is tight so I'm rather limited on my equipment budget to get a mod/new tanks.

Well, the caramel that I taste is not un-appetizing, so that might be something right there. And I have made DIY caramel that was great, also it's good to mix it with graham cracker.

You might have a bad coil. I use the same coils, but with Evod tanks. On some, the flavor is great, and the other ones mute everything. I had some PT3s, but gave them away because the vapor was way too saturated and they always gurgled, but I just loaded up some CB in an Evod and it lacks a little depth, but the caramel is not that stong.

With CB in an RDA, the main flavors I get are Frenilla and caramel, and then that's followed by custard. It does have a lot of Frenilla in it though.

Do you have anything else you can put it in? Or maybe a different coil? You are vaping at 5.8 watts right now, you should be able to turn it up to 4.2 volts to get up to 8 watts, just make sure the coil has a chance to cool down and rewick every hit or two.

I have a GSH2 Tank I could put it in. It's a brand new coil, I always change coils when I change flavors. I'm also going to take the coil out and rewick it with cotton instead of the silica blend that Kanger uses.

The liquid I sent along to Flavored for the CASAA recruitment piece was steeped very well, close to a month if I recall, so it's not steeping. It's CB, so it goes without saying that it will improve with time, but it shoudln't be tasting the way it is.

I hate hate hate stock heads. Argh. While it's not outside the realm of posibility that CB just doesn't trip your subjective trigger, the experience you are describing isn't at all typical. 95% of the time, the culprit is the head.

How long as the head been in there?

Did you try any other liquid with that head (liquid you know you like)?

What other devices do you have at your disposal that you might attempt to use?

EDT: I need to read the whole thread before I start firing questions. LMAO

By head I assume you mean the coil? Kinda new to all this, hence the low quality equipment. It's a brand new coil, fresh out of the box. I have a Tigers blood/Banana mama blend that I'm quite fond of I could try. As far as other devices I only have a cheapy battery that I got at a gas station, was my first battery.

I had poor flavoring with CB with the PT 2.2ohm stock head. Just didn't work. I have learned that one of the many reasons I like NT's juices is that they aren't overpowering. I look at it like this, a desert made with sugar is great. A bowl of sugar, not so good.

Your burnt caramel flavor has me perplexed. If it is a new head even more so. You might have burned the wick a bit. Did you remove the flavor wicks? Again, the stock heads blow. NT's juices seem to shine with quality builds and rigs.

Did you saturate the wick before firing? Did you remove flavor wicks? Did you give it a few good primer puffs? I feel for you. We all have been there.

Here is how to remove one or two of the flavor wicks.

I use IBTanked cartotanks. I absolutely love them. They are not too expensive (about $26 for a complete tank) and the cartomizers are about $1.30-$1.50/each. Each cartomizer lasts me about 3 weeks (depending on the liquid). For me it is much less expensive than using the ProTanks. I was replacing the head coils in those about every other day.
The flavor difference with the carto tank is night and day. I get a much clearer, stronger flavor with the carto tanks. They are definitely worth it if you are looking to upgrade.
I know that many people are into RBAs and building their owm coils, and they do give great flavor, but I am not interested in building my own coils right now. I think that a good carto tank is the way to go for me!!!
Let me know if you have any more questions!

Good luck!

The first lesson is that the coils that come straight from the factory are notoriously inconsistent. Even a fresh never been used factory coil can't be "trusted". Also, save all your burned atomizer heads... I have a feeling you will be rebuilding soon after you continue to experience the frustration of stock heads. Just throw them in a dixie cup or a zip lock baggie and stash them away.

Top priority is a roll of 30gu Kanthal, a bag of organic cotton balls from your local pharmacy, and a couple of youtube videos on rebuilding Kanger heads with microcoils. Don't just do it for my liquid, do it for all your liquid... it will give you control over the experience.

If you buy any more stock heads, get the lower resistance option, always. 1.8 or so

If you are using stock ProTank coils with silica, that is your problem (imo). For one, there isn't enough wire material in the head, suspect they use 32ga wire. Secondly, silica just plain sucks!

My suggestion, go out to YouTube, watch a couple videos on how to recoil a ProTank. Go to Lightning Vapes, order some 30ga wire (100' for like $5), go to Michaels and get some Sugar and Creme 100% cotton yard (it's a 4-strand yarn), this is a few bucks for a ton. I boil a foot or so for 20 minutes just to get any gunk off from storage or people handling it - let it dry at least overnight and store excess in an open container. Wrap the coil around a 1/16" drill bit (I do 9 wraps and am right at 1.9 ohm +/-), drop it in. Be careful not to tear or mess up the insulator. Feed 2 twisted strands of the yarn into the coil and use the other two (loose, not twisted) to set on top as flavor wick (unless you use heavy VG juice). I do this for all my builds but I don't use anything heavier than 50% vg. You may get a bit of off taste initially, some do using cotton, but it'll shortly pass after two or three pulls. This should improve all your flavors.

If cotton doesn't do it for you, there are other materials such as bamboo yarn (also at Michaels) or many are starting to go to ceramic wick which is like $8 for 1 foot.

Take it slow and you'll be fine. I've been doing the above for a year....not onto RBA's for me. Waiting to pull the trigger on my first Mech (getting a Reo).

Best of luck!!

Oh, man . . . I need to send you a couple coils . . . Let me find your address again. That juice will come alive.

Man, you are awesome. I'm picking up another bottle of my favorite mix on Tuesday, I'm going to send it your way. It tastes very similar to a Bailey's Banana Colada. Just lemme know what nicotine amount you prefer.
