Hi guys, me again. I found a really awesome vanilla flavored juice, tastes just like roasted marshmallows! Problem is it's a really dark, really sweet juice, and 80VG/20PG. Needless to say, my coils look like BURNED MARSHMALLOWS and after a while tastes really harsh. I know this combination of flavor and VG has burnt coils written all over it, but I really like roasted marshmallows! Right now I am cleaning the coils and replacing the cotton twice a day. Any other marshmallow flavors out there? Is there anything I can do to lessen the wear on the coils while using this flavor combination?

Sally's Beauty Supply for rayon. It's less than $20 for a 5 lifetime supply . Unfortunately, I'm not a fan and gave 499 feet away.

They call it "CelluCotton" and now have a 10 foot version for $2. Have got three years out of less than one foot so have at least a 1,497 year supply left:shock:

Just make sure you get the 100% Rayon fibers stuff. They make a cotton/rayon blend, too, and that's not what you want. I bought the 40' box of it on Amazon for $7.99, to split with a few local friends who vape. The brand is "Graham Beauty", CelluCotton Beauty Coil, 100% Rayon Fibers. Number on the box is 44130. I don't know if that's the exact same stuff that Sally's Beauty Supply carries in smaller bags of 10' or not. Never got any there.

One of the best things I've done vaping-wise...was switching to rayon for wicking, about 8-10 months ago. World of difference between it and cotton, IMO.

Thats the price of vaping juice thats like that. Rayon will help but still its more of the sweeteners burning onto the coil creating that cocoon. As long as your hearing sizzle after the vape...thats juice burning onto the coil. With big fat multiwire builds, more wire the longer it takes to cool down and ramp up to temp. Take a couple seconds of non powered vape after the vape to cool the coil down lessening the burning. Chain vaping...first vape is great, now the coil warm, ramp up time is much less then by the third vape the coil gets red hot almost instantly, with zero ramp up time and if your not compensating how fast to draw.... then your burning.
I make a vanilla coke thats 1% vanilla and its coil life is 1/3 of my tobacco mixes. There is really nothing you can do to extend coil life but change to a less sweetened juice or get tired of cleaning coils and rewicking.

I use rayon and like it much more than cotton. I have a couple juices that gunk up coils and have to be burnt off every couple days when using those juices. The rayon is still white thru and thru just the yucky coils. The other juices I use that aren't coil gunkers, I get around 150 ml of juice thru before having to clean them. Even there the rayon is still white and it is just the coils needing cleaned.

Just the price of vaping I guess. Only takes a few minutes to burn of and rewick so no big deal if the juice is worth it.

Save y'all filtering through the 3000+ rayon posts.
The short of it is...cotton flows inside the fiber, expanding the fiber and those fibers plug up one at a time until all plugged then no more juice flow then dryhitting begins.
Rayon flows outside the fiber, no expansion of the fiber so no plugging of the fibers thus once juiced it settles(some say shrink but thats wrong) upon itself so has to be super tight in the coil. I can take my worst cocooned coil, rince the rayon off and its still white with a slight brownish tinge like you can dry it up and reuse. If rayon is considered by the OP then search thinning the tails, even with cotton learning how much tail bulk to thin out(not cut out) is a crucial part of the vape quality. He will get a few more miles out of rayon but he's having more a sweetener cocooning the coil than wicking issues.

I'm sorry, nube question ...

What is Rayon and where can I get it?
Rayon is 100% cellulose fiber made from plant material (usually wood pulp), produced synthetically in an industrial process. There are some nasty chemicals involved in the production, but the end product is very clean. Cotton is largely cellulose fiber, made from plant material and produced naturally in a biological process. The end product is laced with enzymes and proteins and other “organic molecules,” as well as the occasional seed. There are no seeds in rayon.

If you’ve got a lady in your life who uses Kotex U brand tampons, see if she will let you have one; they are made of a high-quality rayon. If not, then if you’re comfortable giving out your mailing address in a private message, I can send you as much as will fit in a standard envelope. When you love it (most who try it, do) you can get more online or locally from Sally Beauty Supply. The product is Graham Cellucotton, comes in a big long rope of the stuff; 500ft for ~$15, enough for a lifetime, or 3lbs (~900ft) for about 3 bucks more because why not, and you can share with impunity. Comes in a big blue-and-white box. There are other, smaller bags/boxes also called “Graham Cellucotton” but they are either cotton or cotton/rayon blend; make sure the one you get says “100% rayon fibers” if you want 100% rayon fibers.

900 feet???? Unless you own an actual beauty salon the FDA could misconstrue that as intent to sell. ;)

My goodness the rayon lovers came out of the woodwork on this one didn't they?

At any rate, rayon isn't going to make a juice that gunks up gunk any less, it's the sweetner that is used in the juice that is gunking up your coils and it has not one thing to do with what wick you use.

Some sweeteners will carmelize on your coils, because of the sweeteners themselves and how they react to heat. This is the problem. Not the wicking material you use.

Good luck to you, but if you like that flavor you might try another vendor/manufacturer with a similar flavor and see if they use a less gunky sweetner... that is your best option and you won't end up with 900 feet of rayon you don't need that way.

The small 40' box (only 4.5" square x 5.25" tall) with 44130 on the box, is also definitely 100% Rayon fibers.
