This is an interesting thread and I've become a bit inspired. An order has just been submitted for some flavorings and additives. I'll be giving the new Black Fire from FA a try.

I think there's enough information in this thread for the start of a digest on 'flavor treatments' or something along those lines. I may attempt some graphics to explain how some ingredients affect juice.

Here's a link to one graphic I did a while back to explain some of the characteristics of PG and VG.

More comments are welcome and of course thanks for those that have already been made.

Hey Dave - I've been mixing for an 80/20 PG/VG target. Sometimes tinkering pushes the PG side of the equation up a little.

Hey Cool Breeze, You might want to try a 70 PG 30 VG mix. I personally like a 60 PG 40 VG mix the best. You might also try a drop or two of vinegar. I tried it and it seems to mellow it out. One more thing is let your juice sit open for a few days, my juice has been tasting better the longer I let it sit. 7 days is about right. I haven't had any really good juices yet but I'm getting better and throwing away less. LOL

It sure is fun though.

Cheers Dave

Hi Dave - thanks for the comments. I may pump the VG up a bit for some trials.

On the vinegar, what type do you use? 'a drop or two...' into what volume of juice?

Yes, it's fun.

I put 2 drops in a 5ML batch and it tones the harshness down a lot and it just gives it a better feel. It also helps in making the juice vapable soon after you make it so you don't have to let it steep as long. I used just plain white vinegar. If you have some at home try a few drops in your juice and tell me what you think. You will notice an immediate change in taste and harshness.

Dave
